C 680 BL
1 Beschreibung
Das C 680 BL ist ein Tischmikrofon in Kondensator-Technik mit nieren-
förmiger Richtcharakteristik. Dank seiner geringen Abmess ngen läßt sich
das C 680 BL na ffällig plazieren.
Beim A flegen a f einen Tisch oder ein Rednerp lt befindet sich die
Wandlerkapsel sehr nahe an einer Grenzfläche. Diese Ba weise verhindert
Kammfiltereffekte oder andere ak stische Interferenzen, die normaler-
weise a ftreten, wenn ein Mikrofon in der Nähe von reflektierenden
Oberflächen a fgestellt wird.
Die A flagefläche (Tisch, Rednerp lt o.ä.) begrenzt den A fnahmewinkel,
das Mikrofon nimmt also n r Schall a f, der von oberhalb der A flagefläche
eintrifft (s. Abb. 1 nd 2, strichlierte Linien).

Die elastische Lager ng der Wandlerkapsel verhindert weitestgehend die
Übertrag ng von Klopfgerä schen (Körperschall).
Dank des niederohmigen, elektronisch symmetrierten A sgangs kann das
C 680 BL mit Phantomspeis ng betrieben werden. Wenn Sie ein AKG-
Speisegerät (B 18, N 62 E oder N 66 E) besitzen, können Sie das
C 680 BL sowohl an symmetrische als a ch asymmetrische Eingänge ansch-
ließen. Der erforderliche Phantomspeiseadapter ist im Mikrofongehä se
eingeba t.
Das C 680 BL wird mit einem fix montierten, 3 m langen Anschl ßkabel
mit XLR-Stecker geliefert.
2 Anwendungshinweise
2 1 Positionierung
Legen sie das Mikrofon so a f den Konferenztisch bzw. das Rednerp lt,
daß das Mikrofon mindestens 40 cm nd höchstens 1 m vom Redner ent-
fernt ist.
2 2 Fixe Montage
1. Befestigen Sie die mitgelieferten Klebestreifen an der Unterseite des
Mikrofons.
2. Entfernen Sie die Sch tzfolie nd drücken Sie das Mikrofon an der
gewünschten Stelle a f die Tischplatte.
Beim Entfernen des Mikrofons hinterlassen die Klebestreifen keine
Rückstände.
2 3 Umlackieren
Wenn Sie a s Gründen der Innenra mgestalt ng das Mikrofon mlackieren
möchten, gehen Sie wie folgt vor:

1. Lösen Sie die beiden Kre zschlitzschra ben an der Unterseite.
2. Nehmen Sie das Gehä se ab.
3. Heben Sie das Gitter vorsichtig a s der Bodenplatte hera s.
4. Legen Sie das Gehä se z m Lackieren a f einen Holzklotz, damit
der Gehä serand nicht a f der Unterlage a fliegt.
Wichtig:
Lackieren Sie keinesfalls das Gitter! Der Lack verengt oder verstopft die
Löcher nd verschlechtert dad rch die ak stischen Eigenschaften des
Mikrofons erheblich.
3 Stromversorgung
Das C 680 BL ist ein Kondensatormikrofon nd benötigt daher eine
Stromversorg ng (”Phantomspeis ng”).
Wenn Ihr Mischp lt mit Phantomspeis ng a sgestattet ist, schalten Sie diese
ein. (Lesen Sie daz das entsprechende Kapitel der Betriebsanleit ng des
Mischp lts nach.)
3 1 Externe Speisegeräte
Wenn Ihr Mischp lt keine Phantomspeis ng besitzt, schalten Sie zwischen
Mikrofon nd Mischp lteingang ein Phantomspeisegerät. Wir empfehlen
daz die optionalen Netzgeräte N 62 E oder N 66 E sowie das (ebenfalls
optionale) Batteriespeisegerät B 18 von AKG. Wenn Sie andere als die
von AKG empfohlenen Speisegeräte verwenden, kann das Mikrofon
beschädigt werden und erlischt die Garantie
3 2 Nachträglicher Einbau einer Phantomspeisung
Eine Phantomspeis ng nach DIN 45596 kann a ch nachträglich eingeba t
werden. Beachten Sie dabei nbedingt die Sicherheitshinweise nd
Garantiebestimm ngen in der Betriebsanleit ng des Geräts, in das die
Phantomspeis ng eingeba t werden soll.
3 2 1 Symmetrische Eingänge
Die DIN-Norm 45596 schreibt eine positive Spann ng von 12, 24 oder
48 V an den NF-Leit ngen gegen die Kabelabschirm ng vor. Sie können
das Mikrofon aber a ch mit allen Spann ngen zwischen 9 nd 52 V
betreiben. Folgende Anschl ßschemata werden empfohlen:

Wichtig:
Um die Symmetrieanforder ngen nach DIN 45596 z erfüllen, dürfen die
Ist-Werte der Widerstände 2xRv m höchstens 0,4% voneinander ab-
weichen.
3 2 2 Asymmetrische Eingänge
Sind die Geräteeingänge geerdet oder keine Eingangsübertrager vor-
handen, fügen Sie entweder Kondensatoren oder z sätzliche
Transformatoren in die NF-Leit ngen ein, m eine Beeinträchtig ng der
Eingangsst fe d rch Leckströme z verhindern.

1 Description
The C 680 BL is a cardioid condenser table microphone. Thanks to its small
dimensions, the C 680 BL can be placed so it will not distract the speaker.
When lying on a table or lectern the microphone element is very close to
a bo ndary. This design prevents any comb filter effects or other aco stic
interferences which wo ld normally exist at microphone positions close to
reflecting s rfaces.
The s pporting s rface (tabletop, lectern, etc.) limits the pick p area. In
other words, the microphone will only pick p so nds arriving from above
the table or lectern. (See the dashed lines in figs. 1 and 2.)

A transd cer shock mo nt prevents vibrational noise s ch as knocking or
footsteps from being picked p.
The microphone has a low-impedance, electronically balanced o tp t
allowing it to be powered from phantom power so rces. If yo se an AKG
power s pply (B 18, N 62 E, or N 66 E) yo may connect the C 680 BL to
balanced or nbalanced inp ts. The req ired phantom power adapter is
integrated in the microphone case.
The C 680 BL is fitted with a fixed, 3-m (10-ft.) cable with an XLR connector.
2 Uses
2 1 Placement
Place the microphone on the conference table or lectern so that the micro-
phone will be at least 40 cm (16 in.) b t no f rther than 1 m (40 in.) away
from the speaker’s mo th.
2 2 Permanent Installation
1. Fix the s pplied adhesive strips to the nderside of the microphone.
2. Remove the protective films from the adhesive strips and press the
microphone against the tabletop at the desired position.
The adhesive strips are non-tainting and yo can remove the micro-
phone at any time.
2 3 Repainting the C 680 BL
If yo wish to blend the microphone in with the interior decoration of the
room yo can repaint the C 680 BL as described below:
1. Remove the two Phillips screws from the nderside of the microphone.
2. Remove the case.

3. Caref lly lift the grid o t of the bottom panel.
4. Place the case on a wood block to lift the edge of the case off the
workbench s rface.
Ventilate the room and be s re to observe the instr ctions provided
by the paint man fact rer. When sing spray paints, wear a respi-
rator and se a spray booth.
Important:
Do not paint the grid The paint wo ld inevitably restrict or clog the holes
and th s severely degrade the aco stic performance of the microphone.
3 Powering
The C 680 BL is a condenser microphone and therefore needs a polarization
voltage (”phantom power”).
If yo r mixer provides phantom power, switch the phantom power on. (Refer
to the relevant section in yo r mixer man al.)
3 1 Using Optional Phantom Power Supplies
If yo r mixer has no phantom power, insert an external phantom power
s pply between the microphone and mixer inp t. We recommend the
optional N 62 E or N 66 E AC power s pplies or B 18 battery s pply (also
optional) from AKG. Using any power supplies not recommended by
AKG may damage your microphone and voids the warranty
3 2 Retrofitting Phantom Power
Yo may also consider retrofitting a phantom power s pply as per DIN 45596
to yo r mixer. If yo do so, be s re to observe the preca tions and war-
ranty conditions in the man al for the eq ipment in which yo intend to
install the phantom s pply.
3 2 1 Balanced Inputs
The DIN 45596 standard specifies a positive voltage of 12, 24, or 48 V on
the a dio lines vers s the cable shield. For balanced inp ts, we recom-
mend the following wiring schemes:

Important:
In order to satisfy the DIN 45596 symmetry req irement, make s re the
act al val es of the two resistors 2 x Rv do not differ by more than 0.4%!
3 2 2 Unbalanced Inputs
If the eq ipment inp ts are gro nded or transformerless, wire either
capacitors or extra transformers into the a dio lines as shown below in order
to prevent any c rrent leakage into the inp t stage.

4 Cleaning
Clean all exterior s rfaces with methylated spirits or alcohol.

1 Description

l’angle de capt re: le micro ne capte donc q e les sons dont la so rce est
sit ée a -dess s de cette s rface (voir Fig. 1 et 2, ligne en pointillé).

La s spension élastiq e de la caps le s pprime dans ne large mes re

La sortie à basse impédance, éq ilibrée électroniq ement, permet d’ali-
menter le C 680 BL en fantôme. Si vo s disposez d’ n appareil d’alimen-
tation AKG (B 18, N 62 E o N 66 E) vo s po vez connecter le micro a ssi
bien à des entrées symétriq es q ’à des entrées asymétriq es. L’adaptate r
po r alimentation fantôme est incorporé dans le boîtier d micro.
Le C 680 BL est fo rni avec n câble de raccordement fixe de 3 m de long,
avec connecte r XLR.
2 Instructions d’utilisation
2 1 Positionnement
Le micro placé s r la table de conférence o le p pitre de l’orate r doit se
tro ver à 40 cm a moins et n mètre a pl s des lèvres de l’orate r.
2 2 Fixation
1. Fixez la bande adhésive faisant partie des fo rnit res s r la face
inférie re d micro.
2. Enlevez la fe ille de protection et mettez le micro s r la table, à l’em-
placement so haité, en le pressant contre la table.
La bande adhésive ne laisse pas de traces lorsq ’on enlève le micro.
2 3 Changement de couleur
Si vo s désirez repeindre le micro po r q ’il s’adapte mie x à la décoration
intérie re:
1. Dévissez les de x vis à fentes en croix s r la face inférie re d
micro.
2. Sortez le micro d boîtier.
3. Sortez la grille avec préca tions.
