1. Product Description
1.1 Introduction
Westlab’s Bottle Top Dispensers are for the effortless dispensing of liquid. Easy to clean
and maintain, the dispensers are fully autoclavable at 121°C. There are four bottle top
dispensers in the range covering a volume range of 0.5ml to 60ml.
The dispensers are calibrated in an accredited ISO 17025 laboratory according to
ISO 8655 standards. A calibration certicate is included inside the product package.
Additionally, a calibration tool is included for a quick in-lab recalibration.
1.2 Intended Use
The Bottle Top Dispenser is a general-purpose laboratory instrument intended for
use in laboratories for dispensing reagents and chemicals which are compatible
with the unit.

1.4 Accessories
Adaptors:
The Bottle Top Dispensers are supplied with ve adaptors that are suitable for most
laboratory reagent bottles.
The available sizes are 28mm, 32mm, 36mm, 40mm and 45mm.
Extendable Telescoping Tube:
A Telescoping Tube is provided as an inside-the-box accessory. Due to its adjustability,
the tube’s length can be extended to suit a variety of bottle heights to ensure you can
reach the bottom of the bottle.

3. Safety Precautions
The Bottle Top Dispensers may sometimes be used with hazardous materials,
operations, and equipment. It is beyond the scope of this manual to address all the
potential risks associated with its use in such applications. It is the responsibility of
the user of these dispensers to consult and establish appropriate safety and health
practice and determine
the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.
Please comply with the following safety instructions:
• Follow all general directions for hazard prevention and safety instructions e.g.,
wear protective clothing, eye protection and gloves.
• Observe all specications provided by the reagent manufacturers.
• When dispensing inammable media, avoid the build up of static charge. Do not
dispense into plastic vessels.
• Only use the unit for dispensing liquids with strict regard to the dened limitations
of use and operating limitations.
• Always use the instrument in a way that neither the user nor any other person is
endangered. When dispensing, the discharge tube must always point away from
the user or any other person. Avoid splashes. Only dispense into suitable vessels.
• Never press down on the piston when the discharge tube closure is attached.
• Never remove the discharge tube while the dispensing cylinder is lled.
• Never carry the mounted unit by the cylinder sleeve or the valve block. The breakage
or loosening of the cylinder may lead to personal injury from chemical exposure.
• Never use force on the dispensers. Use smooth, gentle movements to operate the
piston upwards and downwards. Only use the original accessories and spare parts.
• Do not wipe the unit with a dry cloth.
• Regularly clean the cap of the discharge tube to avoid reagent build up.
• Only use the original accessories and spare parts.
• Do not attempt to make any technical alterations. Do not dismantle the unit any
further than is described in this manual.
• Always check the unit for visual damage before use.
• If there is a sign of a potential malfunction, immediately stop dispensing.
• Store the Bottle Top Dispensers and accessories in a clean, cool, and dry place.
The recommend storage temperature is between -20°C and +50°C [-4°F to +122°F].
• This product cannot be used with hydrouoric acid or any chemical that attacks
glass. A chemical compatibility chart is provided in this manual for detailed
special conditions.
• Calibrations can be performed onsite by end user.

4. Maintenance & Cleaning
The dispenser should be cleaned in the following situations:
• Immediately when the piston is dicult to move
• Before changing the reagent
• Prior to long term storage
• Prior to dismantling the unit
• Prior to autoclaving
• Prior to changing the valve
• Regularly when using liquids which form deposits [e.g. crystallising liquids]
• Regularly when liquids accumulate in the cap
All maintenance should be carried out wearing suitable eye protection and protective
clothing. If in doubt, consult your safety ocer.
Please follow the following precautions:
1. Ensure that the dispenser is completely empty.
2. Place the unit into an empty sink with its reservoir.
3. Unscrew the threaded platform base from the reservoir and lift the dispenser’s
intake tube carefully out of the reservoir, while tapping it against the reservoir’s
aperture to shake off any droplets from the intake tube.
4. Hold the dispenser nozzle over the aperture of the reservoir and apply gentle
piston strokes to return any contents into the reservoir.
5. Empty the dispenser completely and ush thoroughly with distilled water.
6. If the piston barrel is still not completely clean, disassemble the dispenser.

2. Unscrew the calibration nut with the help of the calibration tool to disassemble the
piston and shaft out of the main housing.
3. After unscrewing, pull out the shaft.
4. Rinse the piston and shaft with deionised water.

5. Clean the cylinder with a bottle brush. If necessary, carefully remove the deposits
at the edge of the glass cylinder.
6. Flush all the parts of the unit with deionised water.
7. Insert the piston completely into the cylinder and then reassemble the dispenser
using the calibration tool by screwing back the piston.

8. Snap back the cap to complete the assembly.
Disassemble the delivery pipe
9. Unscrew the chuck nut and pull out the delivery pipe.
10. Clean the delivery pipe with deionised water.
