Work Area Safety
1. Keepyourworkareacleanandwelllit.Clutteredordarkareasinviteaccidents.
2. Donotoperateyourtool/equipmentinexplosiveatmospheres,suchasinthepresenceofamma-
bleliquids,gasesordust.Themotorsproducesparkswhichmayignitethedustorfumes.
3. Keepchildrenandbystandersasafedistancefromtheworkarea.
4. Maketheworkareachildproofwithpadlocks,masterswitchesandorbyremovingthestarterkeys.
Electrical Safety
1. Tool/Equipmentplugsmustmatchtheoutlet.Nevermodifythepluginanyway.Donotuseany
adapterplugswithgroundedtools/equipment.Standardplugsandmatchingoutletswillreducethe
riskofelectricshock.
2. Donotexposeyourtool/equipmenttorainorwetconditions.Waterenteringyourtool/equipmentwill
increasetheriskofelectricshock.
3. Guardagainstelectricalshockbypreventingbodycontactwithgroundedsurfacessuchaspipes,

c)Arsenicandchromiumfromchemicallytreatedlumber.Yourriskfromtheseexposures
varies,dependingonhowoftenyoudothistypeofwork.Toreduceyourexposuretothese
chemicals,workinawellventilatedarea,andworkwithapprovedsafetyequipment,includ-
ingdustmasksthatarespeciallydesignedtolteroutmicroscopicparticles.
5. Wearproperapparel.Donotwearlooseclothing,neckties,orjewelrythatcangetcaughtinthe
tool/equipment'smovingpartsandcausebodilyinjury.Wearprotectivehaircoveringtocontainlong
hair.Non-slipshoesarerecommendedwhenworkingoutdoors.
6. Preventunintentionalstarting.EnsuretheswitchisintheOFFpositionbeforeconnectingtoa
powersourceormovingyourtool/equipment.
Service
Allrepairs,whetherelectricalormechanical,shouldbemadebyaqualiedprofessionalrepair
technicianatanauthorizedservicecenterusingonlyidenticalreplacementparts.Thiswillensurethat
thesafetyofyourElectricalToolismaintained.
Miter Saw Use and Care
1. Checkfordamagedparts.Aguardorotherpartthatisdamagedshouldbecarefullycheckedto
determinethatitwilloperateproperlyandperformitsintendedfunction.Checkforalignmentof
movingparts,bindingofmovingparts,breakageofparts,mountingandanyotherconditionthat
mayaffectitsoperation.Aguardorotherpartthatisdamagedmustbeproperlyrepairedorre-
placedbyanauthorizedservicecentertoavoidriskofbodilyinjury.
2. Secureyourworkandalladjustmentsbeforemakingacut.Useclampsoravisetoholdworkwhen
practical.ItissaferthanusingyourhandsanditfreesbothhandstooperateyourMiterSaw.
3. Keepawayfromthecuttingarea.Donothandholdpiecessosmallthatyourngersgounderthe
bladeguard.Donotreachunderneathworkorinbladecuttingpathwithyourhandsandngersfor
anyreason.
4. Avoidawkwardoperationsandhandpositionswhereasuddenslipcouldcauseyourhandtomove
intotheblade.ALWAYSmakesureyouhavegoodbalanceanddonotoverreach.
5. DonotuseyourMiterSawiftheswitchdoesnotturnONandOFF.AMiterSawthatcannotbe
controlledwiththeswitchisdangerousandmustberepaired.

6. Allowthemotortocomeuptofullspeedbeforestartingacuttoavoidbindingorstalling.

8. Disconnecttheplugfromthepowersourcebeforemakinganyadjustments,changingaccessories,

removed.Makesureallguardsareoperatingproperlybeforeeachuse.
11.FormahabitofcheckingtoseethatkeysandadjustingwrenchesareremovedfromMiterSaw
beforeturningitON.
12.Don'tforceyourMiterSaw.Itwilldothejobsaferandbetterattherateforwhichitwasdesigned.
13.Alwayssupportlargeworkpieceswhilecuttingtominimizetheriskofbladepinchingandkickback.
YourMiterSawmayslip,walkorslidewhilecuttinglargeorheavyboards.
14.Donotremovejammed,cutoffpiecesuntilthebladehasstopped.
15.NeverstartyourMiterSawwhenthebladeisincontactwiththeworkpiece.
16.Nevertouchthebladeorothermovingpartsduringuse.
17.Beforechangingthesetup,removethecovers,guardsorbladesandunplugyourMiterSaw.
18.AlwaysturnOFFyourMiterSawbeforedisconnectingit.
19.StoreyourMiterSawoutofthereachofchildrenanddonotallowpeopleunfamiliarwithyourMiter

Miter Saw Preparation
1. Checkforproperassemblyandalignmentofmovingparts.(SeeAssemblyInstructions,page14.)
2. Read, understand, and follow all operating instructions and safety warnings in this
Operator's Manual.
3. KnowtheconditionofyourMiterSaw.Ifanypartsaremissing,bentordonotoperateproperly,
replacethecomponent(s)beforeyoucontinuetouseyoursaw.
4. Determinethetypeofworkyouaregoingtodopriortooperatingyoursaw.
5. ArchingParts–KeepyourMiterSawatleast20feetawayfromexplosivevapors,suchaswhen
sprayingwithaspraygun.
6. DonotleaveyourMiterSawunattendedforanextendedperiodwhilepluggedin.UnplugyourMiter
Sawafteruse.
7. Thisproductisnotatoy.Keepitoutofreachfromchildren.
8. Thewarnings,precautions,andinstructionsdiscussedinthisOperator'sManualcannotcoverall
thepossibleconditionsandsituationsthatmayoccur.Itmustbeunderstoodbytheoperatorthat
commonsenseandcautionaretheresponsibilityoftheoperator.
Power Cord Connection to Electrical Outlet
1. Verifythevoltagesuppliedtothesawandthesaw’srequiredvoltageisthesame.Ifthesupplied
voltageisgreaterthantherequiredvoltage,seriousbodilyinjurycouldresult.Ifthesuppliedvoltage
islowerthanrequiredvoltage,damagetothemotorcouldresult.
2. Usepropercircuitprotection.Connectyoursawtoabranchcircuitthatusesa20Amptimedelay
fuseorcircuitbreaker.Usingthewrongsizefusecoulddamagethemotor.
3. Replaceaworn,cutordamagedpowercord.

Grounding Instructions
1. INTHEEVENTOFAMALFUNCTIONORBREAKDOWN,groundingprovidesthepathofleastre-
sistanceforelectriccurrentandreducestheriskofelectricshock.Thistool/equipmentisequipped
withanelectriccordthathasanequipmentgroundingconductorandagroundingplug.Theplug
MUSTbepluggedintoamatchingoutletthatisproperlyinstalledandgroundedinaccordancewith
ALLlocalcodesandordinances.
2. DONOTMODIFYTHEPLUGPROVIDED.Ifitwillnotttheoutlet,havetheproperoutletinstalled
byanelectrician.
3. IMPROPERCONNECTIONoftheequipmentgroundingconductorcanresultinelectricshock.
Theconductorwiththegreeninsulation(withorwithoutyellowstripes)istheequipmentground-
ingconductor.Ifrepairorreplacementoftheelectriccordorplugisnecessary,DONOTconnect
theequipmentgroundingconductortoaliveterminal.CHECKwithalicensedelectricianorservice
personnelifyoudonotcompletelyunderstandthegroundinginstructions,orifyouarenotsureif
thetool/equipmentisproperlygrounded.
4. USEONLYTHREEWIREEXTENSIONCORDSwithhave3-prongplugsand3-prongoutletsthat
acceptthetool/equipment’splug.Repairorreplacedamagedorworncordsimmediately.
WARNING:Inallcases,makecertaintheoutletisproperlygrounded.Ifyouarenotsureif
itis,havealicensedelectricianchecktheoutlet.
