INTRODUCTION
The Phoenix MK 2 is our new jet trainer. It is full composite, delivered assembled and painted.
It is designed for jet beginners with following objective :
-Very easy to fly.
-Short take off and landing due to big airfoil thickness (13%), large flaps and low wing loading
-Very fast assembly
-Easy access to engine (top engine, no hatch, no exhaust pipe)
-Easy access to fuel tank , ECU and radio thanks to a large fuselage hatch.
-Easy radio installation thanks to the large fuselage hatch and supplied servo covers.
The model comes to you finished and painted in mold. All the CNC machined bulkeads are glued. All
the control surfaces are live hinged. No gluing is required. This model has plug in type wings, stabs and
fin booms for an easier transport.
All necessary hardware are included in the kit ( options available like the kevlar tank and gear )
Assembly require only few hours to fit engine and radio.
The Phoenix ARF model includes :
- High quality epoxy-glass fuselage painted.
- All plywood and wood parts premounted.
- Fully molded wings with winglets, stabs and fin booms painted
- High tensile aluminum ( AU4G ) wing tube.
- Access hatch requiring no additional framework.
- All hardware (screws, servo cover, ...)
- Instructions in English with pictures.
Parts required to complete the kit :

Gear :
Please, use only the struts supplied by Ultimate Jets.
If you use standard struts, you will have to modify the gear
position and the fuselage reservations.
Fasten the main retracts on the plywood mount using the M4
x16 mm socket head screws provided.
Fasten the front gear on the plywood mount .
Secure the front retract with four 4x16 mm
socket head screws.
Fasten the steering servo inverted on the plywood frame
Connect servo to steering arm with 2 mm ball link + steel wire
You might want to drill a 3 mm hole in the bottom of the fuselage
to access the servo spline screw.
The strut steering arm should be connected
thanks to a pull-pull system and crimping
tubes. Just loop the wire around the arm tight
and crimp. On the servo side, use a stiff servo
arm or disc. The 2 mm ball links on the servo
side will help in adjusting the tension . Do not
make it too tight or you might restrict the
down lock.

If necessary, add 2 springs or rubber to bend the steel wire when the gear retract
Connect all air tubing and brakes according to the manual.
Secure all tubing with stainless steel safety wire.
The air tank can be fitted either in the nose or in the
fuselage on the side of the main tank.

Identify the different control horns:
Ailreon horn:
Flap horn:
Rudder horn:
Scuff the lower part of the horn that will be glued into the flight control hard wood block. Drill 3 holes
in that area for added bonding strength.

Stabilizer servo :
Fasten the servo in the servo cover (you can also glue it with silicon glue for increased safety)
Place the servo cover on the stab in its pocket.
Drill four 1 mm holes in the stab at the screws
location.
Make a 10 mm hole in on side of the stab for the
servo plug.
Cut a slot in the control surface for the fiber control
horn.
Glue the control horn with Hysol E20HP .
Connect two 3 mm link with the provided M3
threaded rod.
Fasten the servo cover in position with 4 countersink
sheet metal screws provided.
Connect the servo to the control horn.
Apply thread lock.

Aileron and flaps servos :
Proceed as for the stabilizer servo :
Fasten the servo in the servo cover (you can also glue it
with silicon glue for increased safety).
Place the servo cover in the wings pockets.
Drill four 1 mm holes in the wings for the screws.
Cut a slot in the control surface for the fiber control horn
Glue the control horn with Hysol E20HP.
Connect two 2 mm link with M2 threaded rods.

Rudder servos :
Proceed as for the stabilizer servo :
Adjust the pocket to the servo size
using a carbide rotating file.
Fasten the servo in the servo cover
(you can also glue it with silicon glue
for improved safety).
Place the servo cover on the boom.
Drill four 1 mm holes through the
covers into the booms.
Cut a slot in the control surface for the
fiber control horn.
Glue the control horn with Hysol
E20HP.
Connect two 2 mm link with a M2
threaded rod.
Fasten the servo cover with the 4
countersink sheet metal screws.
Connect the servo to the control horn.
Apply thread lock.
Make a 20 mm hole in the boom in front
of the hole of the wing root for the servo
harness.
Drill this hole on both sides of each
boom.
Solder the rudder electric harness.
Make a 5 mm hole in the boom in front of the stabilizer root to pass the harness.
