1. IMPORTANT SAFETY NOTES

Please read the following important safety information before installing

the system.

1.1 System safety

TyrePal TA22X mon tors up to 22 tyres, and prov des an mmed ate warn ng f the

pressure or temperature of any tyre dev ates from pre-set levels. It s ntended to

help you ma nta n your tyre pressures at the opt mum levels for safety, fuel

economy, tyre l fe and env ronmental mpact.

It s your respons b l ty to ensure that t s su table for your part cular veh cle and

that t s work ng correctly and properly ma nta ned. Check the sensors and valve

stems regularly, as some road salts can cause corros on.

The system does not replace the need to carry out regular checks on the

condition and wear of your tyres.

1.2 Batter es and small parts

Keep the small parts and espec ally the batter es out of the reach of ch ldren. If a

battery s swallowed, consult a doctor. Do not hold a battery w th metall c tweezers.

It may cause a short c rcu t. Do not recharge, d sassemble or d spose of batter es n

a f re. Batter es can explode f m streated.

1.3 Use of tyre sealant

Sensors should not be f tted to tyres that have been treated w th nternal tyre

sealant. The sealant may damage the sensor or mpa r ts act on.

1.4 Before nstallat on

Before nstall ng the system, ensure that t s su table for your veh cle.

• Check that the operat ng pressure of your tyres s w th n the range of the

system. .e. 0 - 10 bar (0-145ps ).

• Check that sensor valve caps w ll rema n w th n the outs de prof le of the

tyres when f tted.

• Check that tyre valve stems are n good cond t on before f tt ng the sensors.

• Do not use w th alum n um valve stems.

• Select a locat on for the mon tor un t so that t s v s ble to the dr ver

w thout obstruct ng v s b l ty.

2. PLANNING THE SETUP

Please read this section carefully it will save you time!

You must carry out these steps n the correct order.

1. Charge the mon tor battery and nsert sensor batter es

2. Dec de wh ch tyre pos t ons w ll be mon tored

3. Set the target pressures for each pos t on to be mon tored

4. Reg ster the sensors to each pos t on that s to be mon tored

3. CHARGE THE MONITOR BATTERY

The mon tor s powered from an nternal

rechargeable battery that may need to be charged

before f rst use. It should only be charged using

the supplied adapter wh ch prov des the correct

voltage (5V) when plugged nto the veh cle supply.

Using an incorrect adapter or wiring directly

to the vehicle without the adapter is

dangerous, could cause a fire or explosion and

will permanently damage the monitor. Such

damage is not covered by the warranty.

The mon tor takes s x hours to fully charge the

battery, but t s not harmed by part al charg ng and

does not have to be fully d scharged before

recharg ng. A full charge w ll last for up to 30 days.

If the power s low, a battery warn ng con w ll appear.

Note: If the power s sw tched off w th the system plugged nto

the charger, current may be drawn from the battery nstead of

charg ng t, so don’t leave t connected to the charger when not

dr v ng.

4. INSERT SENSOR BATTERIES

Each sensor requ res one l th um CR1632 battery. The polarity of the battery is

critical. Incorrect polarity can damage the sensor. The battery lasts about

one year and a warn ng appears when the battery s low. Make sure the battery

goes ns de the metal cage, not on top of t.

5. DECIDE WHICH TYRE POSITIONS WILL BE MONITORED

There are 22 poss ble tyre pos t ons as shown below. Unused pos t ons w ll not be

mon tored or d splayed, so we recommend that you mark your own tyre pos t ons on

the blank layout below.

6. SET TARGET PRESSURES AND UNITS

The target pressure s the requ red normal cold operat ng pressure for each tyre as

recommended by the manufacturer. It s usually pr nted n the veh cle manual and

on a label n the dr ver’s door frame. It s not the same as the max mum pressure

embossed on the tyre wall.

The system automat cally sets a ser es of alert levels commenc ng at 15% below the

target pressure, so f a target pressure s 100ps , you w ll be alerted when the

pressure of that tyre s down to 85ps . Note that th s sett ng only affects the h gh

and low pressure alerts. A blow-out or rap d a r loss w ll always tr gger an alert.

6.1 Enter sett ngs mode

Press and hold the centre button for about f ve seconds. The

front left tyre pos t on con flashes and the d splay shows the

default target pressure and the default un ts.

6.2 Change un ts

To change un ts, press the centre button 22 t mes to scroll

through all the tyre pos t ons unt l the pressure con n the

top left of the screen flashes. Press left or r ght buttons to

select the un ts you requ re.

Press the centre button to store the select on and move on to

temperature.

Press left or r ght to select the requ red temperature un ts and then press the centre

button to store the select on and move back to the f rst tyre pos t on.

6.3 Set tyre pressures

Press left or r ght buttons to adjust the sett ng for the current (flash ng) tyre

pos t on. A s ngle press changes by one step, hold ng t down g ves a rap d change.

Press the centre button to store the sett ng and move on to the next pos t on.

You must set the pressures for all the tyre pos t ons you w ll be mon tor ng, but other

pos t ons can be left at the factory default.

6.4 Ex t sett ngs mode

You must ex t sett ngs mode before proceed ng. Press and hold the centre button for

about f ve seconds.

7. REGISTER THE SENSORS

Reg ster sensors to the pos t ons you have dec ded n sect on 5 that you want to

mon tor. On complet on, other pos t ons w ll not be mon tored or d splayed. Sensors

are reg stered by s mply screw ng them onto the tyre valve n place of the normal

dust cap.

7.1 Enter reg strat on mode

Press and hold the left and r ght buttons for about f ve

seconds. The red l ght comes on and the f rst tyre pos t on

con flashes.

7.2 Reg ster sensors

Take the mon tor w th you to the wheel correspond ng to

the flash ng con. Remove the tyre valve dust cap and

screw a sensor onto the valve n ts place. After a few

seconds, the l ght turns green and the tyre pressure s

d splayed. The sensor s now reg stered to th s tyre

pos t on. If reg strat on s not ach eved w th n 30 seconds,

remove the sensor, wa t ten seconds and re-mount t.

The pack ncludes opt onal ant -theft r ngs. We suggest that you complete the

reg strat on process and test the nstallat on before lock ng the sensors n pos t on.

Press the r ght or left button to move onto the next tyre pos t on and repeat the

process unt l you have reg stered sensors to all of the requ red pos t ons.

7.3 Ex t reg strat on mode

Press and hold the left and r ght buttons for about f ve seconds unt l the l ght goes

out. The screen reverts to the Standby d splay.

7.4 Changes after reg strat on s complete

If pressure sett ngs are changed after the sensors have been reg stered, the mon tor

stores the sett ngs, but they do not come nto effect unt l t has been operat ng for

about 20 m nutes.

If further sensors are added later, they must be reg stered to allow the target

pressures to be set. In th s case t may be qu cker to reset the ent re system by

de-reg ster ng all the sensors and start ng aga n.

8. TESTING THE SETUP

To test the system, pos t on the mon tor n the dr ver’s cab and unscrew the furthest

sensor. The system should produce an alert for that tyre pos t on, w th the red l ght

flash ng and the ‘leak ng’ con show ng.

T ghten the sensor and the alert should stop.

If the alert s not g ven, the sensor may be out of range. The sensors have a

transm ss on range of about 20 metres n open a r, but n pract ce, screen ng by the

veh cle chass s and bodywork reduce the work ng d stance to about 8 to 10 metres.

Th s can be ncreased by us ng the opt onal s gnal booster.

9. FITTING SENSORS AND ANTI-THEFT RINGS

Sl de the ant -theft r ng onto the valve w th the bars

po nt ng outwards. Screw on the sensor n place of

the or g nal dust cap, but do not over-t ghten.

Adjust the pos t on of the ant -theft r ng so that the

bars engage w th the slots n the sensor and lock t

nto place w th one or more of the lock ng screws

prov ded. Do not over-t ghten or t may damage the

valve stem.

When all the tyre sensors are f tted, check that there

are no leaks by brush ng a l ttle detergent and water

on the valve stems. If bubbles appear, slacken the

lock ng key and ref t the sensor.

9.1 Corros on

Corros on occurs mostly where d fferent metals are n contact n the presence of an

electrolyte l ke salty water. TyrePal sensors have a brass thread and th s presents

l ttle danger of corros on on normal brass tyre valves. The lock ng r ngs are made of

alum n um to m n m se we ght, so these are anod sed for protect on. Wh le the

anod s ng s ntact, there s l ttle r sk of corros on, but f the anod zed surface s

damaged, contact between the alum n um and the brass of the sensor or the tyre

valve w ll create a corros on r sk, espec ally dur ng the w nter when roads are salted.

9.2 Ant -corros on precaut ons

1. Put a small amount of WD40 or s l cone grease on the lock ng r ng and on

the threads of the valve stem. Th s f lm separates the d fferent metals.

2. Remove the sensors once a month dur ng w nter to prevent bond ng.

3. Remove the sensors f the veh cle s to be unused for several months.

4. Do not use the lock ng r ngs f the veh cle s be ng used n extremely salty

cond t ons, such as a boat tra ler where the wheels may be mmersed n the

sea.

10. WHEEL BALANCING

The we ght of the sensors s w th n the tolerance generally ach eved for wheel

balanc ng, so there s usually no need for the wheels to be rebalanced after nstall ng

the system. Some veh cles are more sens t ve to wheel balance than others, so f

v brat on s felt when dr v ng at speed after f tt ng the system, the wheels must be

rebalanced.

11. CONNECTING AND DISCONNECTING A TRAILER

If you have sensors on both a tow ng veh cle and a tra ler such as a caravan or a

towed car, when you no longer have the tra ler attached, the system w ll recogn se

th s and w ll show noS (no s gnal) on the d splay. It can take some t me before th s

appears and dur ng th s per od the pressures shown for the tra ler are those wh ch

were detected before the tow ng veh cle went out of range of the tra ler. When the

system does f nally show noS, there w ll be a s ngle beep and the low sensor battery

con may be shown.

When the tow ng veh cle returns w th n range of the tra ler, no act on s necessary,

and t w ll take about 20 m nutes for the mon tor to d splay the correct pressures of

the tra ler. However, f you beg n to tow dur ng th s per os, and a problem ar ses,

then the system w ll detect and warn you w th n s x seconds as normal.

If the mon tor s show ng noS because the mon tor s out of range of the tra ler, the

sensor low battery warn ng can be gnored.

12. WARNINGS AND ALARMS

The system checks the tyre pressures and temperatures every s x seconds and an

alert s g ven n the event of an abnormal ty, whether the veh cle s mov ng or

stat onary. The level of alert depends on the sever ty of the abnormal ty. In each

case, the appropr ate tyre con flashes.

12.1 Blow-out

A tyre loses more than 3 ps n less than 2 m nutes:

12.2 Rap d a r loss

A tyre loses 3 or more ps n 2 to 10 m nutes:

To turn off the alert, press the r ght or left button. It w ll react vate n

one hour f t s not corrected

If tyre pressure s 25% to 50% below the target, the nd cat on s s m lar,

except that the pressure con w ll show 50% full. If more than 50%

below target, t w ll show empty.
