RECOMMENDATIONS & WARNINGS
ADHERE CLOSELY TO SUNFX GUIDELINES
SunFX has signicant experience in providing the very best recommendaons and
techniques for the use of our SunFX products and SunFX Pro equipment. Non-adherence to
these guidelines can lead to problems including equipment malfuncon, incorrect
applicaon and undue wastage of tanning soluon. Non- adherence can even cause
cosmec problems on clients leading to possible contraindicaons directly related to poor
spray applicaon technique. We highly recommend all therapists and users of the SunFX
Pro systems and tanning products become thoroughly familiar with the informaon
contained in this training manual and, if available, on the training DVD supplied.
CHILDREN
Children under the age of 16 should have a parent or a guardian present whilst being
sprayed.
PREGNANCY
SunFX does not recommend spraying pregnant or lactang mothers without medical
guidance.
SENSITIVE SKIN
Clients who have very sensive skin or who are unsure of their skin type, should consult
their GP or Doctor before receiving a test patch or full body spray tan. A test patch should
be done at least 24 hours before their full body spray.
HANDS
We recommend you wear disposable gloves to ensure that any spilled tanning soluon will
not stain your hands.
INHALATION BY THERAPIST
Although inhalaon of our product has not been shown to be harmful, sta members
spraying repeated customers in a conned area may desire to use a disposable paint mask
or similar protecon to eliminate excessive inhalaon of any atomized product.
PROTECTION FOR CLIENTS
SunFX recommends having eye protecon (usually thin solarium goggles are ne) nasal
plugs and lip balm available in the event a client requests one or all of these.
NO SP FACTOR
A tan produced by applicaon of DHA does not oer any protecon against UV rays. Please
ensure your clients are advised of this. We recommend the use of a quality sun block when
exposing your skin to the sun’s UV radiaon.

CHAPTER 1
SYSTEM SET UP
A QUICK SET UP GUIDE FOR YOUR SUNFX PRO TANNING SYSTEM
SUNFX PRO PROFESSIONAL TANNING SYSTEM
PRO SERIES TOWER
The SunFX Pro Professional turbine produces a constant supply of air to be applied
through the hand held spray applicator. Air is taken in at the base of the unit then
through the hose and directed to the applicator.
Please ensure the turbine unit is on a at working surface or oor, this will prevent the
vent being covered which may cause overheang and damage to the turbine motor. We
also recommend that the turbine be placed as far away from the spray area as possible
to limit any spray being sucked in by the vent. Hint: Place around to the side of the tent
There are three indentaons in the top part of the unit. These are used to hold the spray
applicator when not in use. At the base of the unit there is an intake for the hose and a
place to plug in the power cord.
WARNING: If the electrical cord is damaged, it must be replaced by a cord set
recommended by the manufacturer or its service agent. Please contact SunFX for further
advice in this situaon.

SUNFX PRO PROFESSIONAL TANNING SYSTEM
PRO SERIES MINI
The SunFX Pro Mini turbine is very much like the SunFX Pro Professional Series Tower. It
allows a constant supply of air to be placed through the spray applicator. Air is taken in at
the base of the unit then through the hose and directed to the applicator.
The Pro Series Mini is designed to be mounted conveniently on the wall. It can also be
placed on the oor.
If choosing a oor locaon please ensure the turbine unit is on a at working surface as
this will prevent the vent being covered which may cause overheang and damage to
the turbine motor. We also recommend that the turbine be placed as far away from the
spray area as possible to limit any spray being sucked in by the vent.
You will nd the Mini series has an intake for the hose and a place to plug in the power
cord at the base.
A wall mounng kit can be, provided enabling you to aach the turbine to the wall.
For added convenience an applicator holder is included. This holder is designed to be
mounted on the wall.
BASIC FUNCTIONS OF
THE SPRAY
APPLICATOR
The SunFX Pro Series Applicator
introduces our Acetyl Drive System. This
removes the need for internal metal
components, eliminang all forms of
corrosion, and increases the applicators
life span and reliability. Please take a
few moments to familiarize yourself
with the basic features.

HOW TO USE YOUR SUNFX PRO PROFESSIONAL APPLICATOR
STEP 2
FILLING SOLUTION CUP
Fill soluon cup approximately ¾ full with SunFX Pro
Premium Tanning Soluon. Wipe any excess soluon
from (1) inside of the applicator body and (2) outside of
the soluon cup.
CAUTION:
Filling the cup beyond this recommended level may cause
spillage when returning the cup to the spray applicator.
Excess soluon may also be spilled or splashed onto the
inside of the applicator causing it to drip down during
spraying.
STEP 1
UNFASTEN SOLUTION CUP
To unfasten soluon cup simply rotate cup Clockwise.

STEP 3
FASTEN SOLUTION CUP BACK ON TO APPLICATOR
To fasten applicator cup back on to applicator simply rotate
counter-clockwise unl reasonably ght.
CAUTION:
If any leaking occurs simply ghten cup further.
STEP 4
ATTACHING HOSE TO APPLICATOR
Line up the locang groove in the hose with the tab inside
the applicator handle. Turn counter-clockwise and
GENTLY lock end of the hose securely into the handle of
the applicator.
CAUTION:
Excessive force may result in the bending or breaking of
these parts.
STEP 5
ATTACHING HOSE TO TURBINE
The hose has 2 small tabs on the end. Posion these
correctly with the slots in the base of the turbine and
then GENTLY turn counter-clockwise to lock the hose
into the unit.
CAUTION:
Excessive force may result in damage to these parts.
STEP 6
PLUG IN POWER CORD
FIRMLY push the power cord into the slot on the base
of the turbine or Mini and plug into power socket on
the wall.
YOUR SYSTEM IS NOW READY TO USE
STEP 7
TURN SYSTEM ON TO START SPRAYING
The power switch is located conveniently underneath the top of the Pro Tower system or
on the side of the Pro Mini system.

UV TANNING
One popular form of tanning is the use of the Ultra Violet (UV) method. This involves exposing the
body to direct sunlight or in a conned environment ulizing UV eming light bulbs, commonly
referred to as tanning salons or sun beds. UV tanning relies on the formaon of melanin in the lower
skin layers, which in response to the UV exposure, turn brown. It is this melanin that protects the skin
from damage by the sun by absorbing and scaering light. This method will turn the skin brown but
can also lead to acute and even chronic skin damage and may greatly increase the risk of skin cancer
SPRAY TANNING
An alternave method is the applicaon of cosmecs which cause the skin to turn brown.
DIHYDROXYACETONE : THE AMAZING DISCOVERY
Dihydroxyacetone is commonly abbreviated ‘DHA’. This unique ingredient was discovered over 50
years ago and has been gradually improved to oer excellent tanning results that rival or exceed that
from UV sources. DHA was originally used in oral medicaons to assist in the treatment of some
childhood diseases ( specically glycogen storage disease ) but its tanning eects were accidentally
stumbled upon when, by chance, it was spilled onto the skin.
DHA works by being applied to the skin. The DHA then reacts with the skin proteins found in the top
most layers of the skin. The brown hue can appear in as lile as 2 hours, but for best results 5-7 hours
will be required for the full tanning eect to take place. The extraordinary benet of DHA tanning is
that it can not be washed o, but fades as the upper layers of the epidermis are naturally exfoliated.
BRONZERS & HOW THEY WORK
As menoned DHA takes 5-7 hours to fully develop. Because of this there is a real need to use a
temporary cosmec color. These cosmec colors are oen referred to as Bronzers. Bronzers achieve
two things:
1. A visible guide to ensure proper coverage during spraying
2. To have the client leave the salon with a tan immediately aer spraying
THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN BRONZERS & DHA
As explained previously, DHA causes a tan to develop during a protein reacon with the skin.
However, bronzers are cosmec colors that provide an instant color on top of the skin. They are
reasonably easy to remove in the rst shower. The aim is to ensure there is lile color dierence
between the DHA tan and the bronzers.
