Using This Manual
Overview
This manual contains all the required information to prepare the site where the Rapid 220 test system
will be installed. It is recommended to thoroughly read this manual before starting the system
installation.
Audience
This manual contains useful information for:
¾Test Engineers
¾Field Service Personnel
¾Site Managers
¾Operators using the Rapid 220 test system
Assumptions
Technical knowledge on electronics and pneumatic connections is required.
WARNING: The system installation should be performed exclusively by authorized and
trained technical staff, who is aware of the hazards concerning electrical
shock, and has taken the appropriate measures to minimize the risk of
material damages and injures to people. The following instructions are
intended for use by qualified personnel only. Examples of qualified
personnel are electricians, factory-trained customer personnel, or
manufacturers’ service personnel. The system is designed with inherent
safety to the user. Do not operate this system in a manner not specified
by the manufacturer. This would affect or impair the correct operation of
the safety devices and protections.

Symbols and Syntax
To facilitate the understanding of the sentences used to describe the software, we have used the
following symbols:
WARNING: Indicates a potential hazard for the operator or the system that could result
from the action described in the Warning.
NOTE: Indicates a note, a recommendation or a point on which readers should focus more carefully.
The keyboard selection is indicated as follows:
Key 1+ Key 2 = Press key 1 together with key 2.
Key 1, Key 2 = Press key 1, release it and press key 2.
The files are indicated using the following syntax:
Filename.xml
where “Filename” is the filename and “.xml” is the file extension.

3
Provisions for the work area
Before preparing the work area, please make sure the following recommendations are met. This will
ensure operators will work under safety conditions, and will guarantee the good operating conditions of
the test system over time.
WARNING: Seica S.p.A. shall not be liable in the event of damages resulting from the
failure to comply with the preliminary requirements described in this section.
WARNING: Failure to comply with the following instructions may impair the good
operating conditions of the test system, and may result in material damages/injures to
operators.
WARNING: Make sure the layout of the work area complies with the technical
specifications and overall dimensions reported in the next section.
WARNING: The floor must have enough stability so as to prevent static and dynamic
deformation over time. For this reason, the system should not be placed on floating floors or
on floors containing layers of sound-deadening materials (See section “Examples of non-
suitable floors” for details).

Characteristics of the floor
The floor of the work area must have the following characteristics:
(*)max pressure applied to each main foot
(**) Further details and recommendations are provided in this section
Uniform load capacity: 5kN/m2(500 kgf/m2or 100 psf)
Concentrated load(*): 0.91 MPa (0.91 N/mm2)
Floor surface planarity: 5 mm/m
Characteristics of the
floor (**):
The floor must be stiff without
any air chamber between the
surface and the building
structure.
The floor must not be covered
by elastic material like fitted
carpet or some kind of rubber
ESD floor.
