Models: DFS91A & DFS91B

The use of symbols in this document is to attract your attention to possible danger. The symbols and warnings themselves do not eliminate any danger, nor are they substitutes for proper

Thank you for purchasing a Sealey product. Manufactured to a high standard this product will, if used according to these instructions

1. SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ THESE INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY. NOTE THE SAFE OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS, WARNINGS & CAUTIONS.

USE THE PRODUCT CORRECTLY AND WITH CARE FOR THE PURPOSE FOR WHICH IT IS INTENDED. FAILURE TO DO SO MAY CAUSE

DAMAGE OR PERSONAL INJURY, AND WILL INVALIDATE THE WARRANTY. PLEASE KEEP INSTRUCTIONS SAFE FOR FUTURE USE.

1.1. ELECTRICAL SAFETY. p WARNING! It is the users responsibility to read, understand and comply with the following:

You must check all electrical equipment and appliances to ensure they are safe before using. You must inspect power supply leads, plugs and all

electrical connections for wear and damage. You must ensure the risk of electric shock is minimised by the installation of appropriate safety

devices. An RCCB (Residual Current Circuit Breaker) should be incorporated in the main distribution board. We also recommend that an RCD

(Residual Current Device) is used with all electrical products. It is particularly important to use an RCD together with portable products that are

plugged into an electrical supply not protected by an RCCB. If in doubt consult a professional electrician. You may obtain a Residual Current

Device by contacting your Sealey dealer. You must also read and understand the following instructions concerning electrical safety.

1.1.1. The Electricity At Work Act 1989 requires all portable electrical appliances, if used on a business premises, to be tested by

a qualified Electrician at least once a year by using a Portable Appliance Tester (PAT).

1.1.2. The Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 makes owners of electrical appliances responsible for the safe condition of the appliance,

and the safety of the appliance operator. If in any doubt about electrical safety, contact a qualified electrician.

1.1.3. Ensure the insulation on all cables and the product itself is safe before connecting to the mains power

supply. See 1.1.1. & 1.1.2. above and use a Portable Appliance Tester (PAT).

1.1.4. Ensure that cables are always protected against short circuit and overload.

1.1.5. Regularly inspect power supply, leads, plugs and all electrical connections for wear and damage,

especially power connections, to ensure that none are loose.

1.1.6. Important: Ensure the voltage marked on the product is the same as the electrical power supply

to be used, and check that plugs are fitted with the correct capacity fuse. A 13Amp plug may require

a fuse smaller than 13Amps for certain products (subject to 1.1.10. below) see fuse rating at right.

1.1.7. DO NOT pull or carry the powered appliance by its power supply lead. Products such as

welders must not be pulled or carried by their output cables.

1.1.8. DO NOT pull power plugs from sockets by the power cable.

1.1.9. DO NOT use worn or damage leads, plugs or connections. Immediately replace or have repaired by

a qualified Electrician. A U.K. 3 pin plug with ASTA/BS approval is fitted. In case of damage, cut off

and fit a new plug according to the following instructions (discard old plug safely).

(UK only - see diagram at right). Ensure the unit is correctly earthed via a three-pin plug.

a) Connect the GREEN/YELLOW earth wire to the earth terminal E.

b) Connect the BROWN live wire to live terminal L.

c) Connect the BLUE neutral wire to the neutral terminal N.

After wiring, check there are no bare wires, that all wires have been correctly connected and that the wire restraint is tight.

Double insulated products are often fitted with live (BROWN) and neutral (BLUE) wires only. Double insulated products are always marked with

this symbol. To re-wire, connect the brown & blue wires as indicated above. DO NOT connect the brown or blue to the earth terminal.

1.1.10. Some products require more than a 13Amp electrical supply. In such a case, NO plug will be fitted. You must contact a qualified Electrician

to ensure a 30 amp fused supply is available. We recommend you discuss the installation of a industrial round pin plug & socket with your electrician.

1.1.11. Cable extension reels. When a cable extension reel is used it should be fully unwound before connection. A cable reel with an RCD

fitted is recommended since any product which is plugged into the cable reel will be protected. The section of the cable on the cable

reel is important. We recommend that at least 1.5mm2section cable but to be absolutely sure that the capacity of the cable reel is

suitable for this product and for others that may be used in the other output sockets, we recommend the use of 2.5mm2section cable.

1.2 GENERAL SAFETY

pWARNING! Ensure that all relevant Health and Safety, Local Authority, Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH), and General

Workshop Practice Regulations are strictly adhered to when using this equipment.

3Familiarise yourself with products application & limitations, as well as the specific potential hazards peculiar to the dust free vacuum system.

pWARNING! Disconnect dust free vacuum system from mains power & air supply before changing accessories, servicing or performing maintenance.

3Maintain the dust free vacuum system in good condition (use an authorised service agent).

3Replace or repair damaged parts. Use recommended parts only. Non authorised parts may be dangerous and will invalidate the warranty.

3Locate dust free vacuum system in adequate working area, keep area clean & tidy and free from unrelated materials. Ensure there is adequate lighting.

pWARNING! ensure correct air pressure is used, maintained, and not exceeded for the appropriate sander attachment.

3The air supply should be adequate to allow a minimum of 10.6cfm free air delivery to the sanding tool. This should be a minimum of 13cfm free air

delivered to the air inlet of the dust free vacuum system. We recommend the use of a 3HP (or more) compressor for one air tool, and twice the

compressor rating for the operation to two air tools.

3Air supply must be delivered through a 3/8 internal diameter air hose. If you use a 5/16 internal diameter the performance of the tool may suffer.

3Keep air hose away from heat, oil and sharp edges. Check air hose for wear before each use, and ensure that all connections are secure.

3Before each use check attached tool for condition. If worn or damaged replace immediately.

pWARNING! The maximum wattage of any electrical tool operated from the dust free vacuum system must not exceed 800 Watts.

3Ensure there are no flammable or combustible materials near the work area.

pWARNING! Always wear appropriate approved eye, face, mask, ear defenders, or protective clothing according to task being undertaken.

3Keep hands and body clear of the sanders working parts when operating the dust free vacuum system.

3Keep children & unauthorised persons away from the working area, and DO NOT allow untrained persons to operate the dust free vacuum system.

7DO NOT use the dust free vacuum system for any purpose other than for which it is designed.

7DO NOT pull or yank the electrical leads, air feed hoses and vacuum extraction hoses attached to the dust free vacuum system.

sIMPORTANT: See chapter 4 for details of external air supply system.

3.2. Assembly

Insert the Y connector (fig 2 & fig 3 A) into the unit intake socket by

depressing button (B). Releasing the button will hold the Y connector in place.

3.2.2. For one tool use.

Push dust extraction hose (fig 3 C) onto one of the Y inlet tube end and seal the

other tube with the rubber plug located at the end of the chain (D).

3.2.3. For two tool use

Attached the vacuum hose from each tool to each of the Y inlet tubes, allowing

the rubber plug to hang on its chain.

3.3. Connecting an Electrically operated tool

3.3.1. Press the vacuum operating switch (fig 4 & fig 5. 1) to the Automatic mode (II).

3.3.2. Once the dust extraction hose has been connected to the vacuum system as in 3.2,

connect the other end of the extraction hose to the tool (fig 6. E).

3.3.3. Plug the tools electrical cable into the vacuum systems power socket located in the system head (fig 5. 2).

pWARNING! DO NOT plug the tool into any electrical supply other than the vacuum systems (fig 5. 2.)

3.3.4. Take the vacuum systems electrical cable and plug into the mains power supply and switch the power on.

3.3.5. The unit is now ready for use and will automatically activate when you turn the tool on.

3.4. Connecting an Air operated tool

3.4.1. Press the operating switch (fig 4 & fig 5. 1) to the Automatic mode (II).

3.4.2. Once the dust extraction hose has been connected to the vacuum system as in 3.2, connect the other end of the extraction hose to tool (fig 6. E).

3.4.3. Connect air hose into tools air coupling (fig 6. F) and other end into vacuum system air outlet coupling (fig 5.3. & fig 7. 2).

3.4.4. Fit an external air line system onto the vacuum system air inlet (fig 7. 1). (see chapter 4 for air supply information) seal with a hose clip

and turn the air supply on.

3.4.5. Take the vacuum systems electrical cable and plug into the mains power supply and switch the power on.

3.4.6. The unit is now ready for use and will automatically activate when you turn the tool on.

2. DESCRIPTION & SPECIFICATIONS

Your system consists of a high quality industrial vacuum cleaner with an automatic switch which will allow you to use an air or electrical tool

remotely from the dust extraction unit. When the task is complete the dust system will continues to operate for a further 10 seconds clearing

remaining dust. The system will operate two air tools, or one air tool and one electrical tool at the same time. In automatic mode the dust free

vacuum system will only operate when the attached tool is operated.

3. CONTENT & ASSEMBLY

3.1. Content.

Carefully unpack the product and check contents against the list below. Should there be any

damaged or missing parts contact your supplier immediately.

1. Main body unit.

2. Y connector for dust hose.

3. Combined air and dust extraction hose.

4. Air Sander Model MA150AS. (DFS91A only, not supplied with the DFS91B).

Check inside main drum to ensure there is a dust bag and filter included.

Note: Model DFS91B consists of part 1,2, 3, filter only.

Note: The vacuum system will support a maximum of two air powered tools

together, or, one air powered tool and one electrical tool together.

7DO NOT get the dust free vacuum system wet or use in damp or wet locations.

pWARNING! DO NOT use the dust free vacuum system to vacuum combustible, poisonous, toxic, materials, acids, solvents, & asbestos.

7DO NOT operate the dust free vacuum system when you are tired, under the influence of alcohol, drugs or intoxicating medication.

7DO NOT leave the dust free vacuum system operating whilst unattended.

3Ensure the system is regularly emptied and the filter is cleaned. Failure to do so may damage the unit and invalidate your warranty.

3When not in use turn the mains power supply off and ensure the air supply is turned off.

pWARNING! ensure you turn the air supply of before detaching the air hose from the vacuum system.

3Dispose of waste products in accordance with local authority regulations.

3Store the dust free vacuum system in a safe, dry, child proof area.

pWARNING! ensure correct air pressure is used, maintained, and not exceeded for the appropriate sander attachment.

3The air supply should be adequate to allow the minimum of 10.6cfm free air delivery to the sanding tool. This should be a minimum of 13cfm

free air delivered to the air inlet of the dust free vacuum system. We recommend the use of a 3HP (or more) compressor for one air tool,

and twice the compressor rating for the operation to two air tools.

3Air supply must be delivered through a 3/8 internal diameter air hose. If you use a 5/16 internal diameter the performance of the tool may suffer.

4.1. Ensure the air valve is in the "off" position before connecting to the air supply.

4.2. Check the air pressure is more than 90psi, and an air volume of more than 13cfm for operating the unit.

4.3. Use a compressor of 3HP or above.

4.4. pWARNING! Ensure the air supply does not exceed 130PSI while operating the sander. Too high an air pressure and unclean

air will shorten the product life due to excessive wear, and may be dangerous causing possible damage and personal injury.

4.5. Drain the air tank daily. Water in the air line will damage the tool.

4.6. Clean the air inlet filter screen weekly. The recommended hook-up procedure can be viewed in fig 8.

4.7. Line pressure should be increased to compensate for unusually long air hoses (over 8 metres).

Air supply must be delivered through a 3/8 internal diameter air hose.

If you use a 5/16 internal diameter the performance of the

tool may suffer, and fittings must have

the same inside dimensions.

4.8. Keep hose away from heat, oil and sharp edges.

Check hoses for wear, and make certain that

all connections are secure.

4. AIR SUPPLY

5. OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

pWARNING! Ensure you have read and understood and adhere to chapter 1 safety instruction. Ensure you have donned the

correct health and safety items before attempting to open the vacuum system drum and before operating the unit.

5.1. PREPARATION FOR USE.

5.1.1 Ensure that the vacuum system is unplugged from the mains power supply and the air supply.

5.1.2. Check that dust bag will accommodate dust generated and that filter is in good condition. (see 5.3. below for bag and filter removal).

5.1.3. Check the vacuum system and attached tools are in good working order and condition and all air and electrical connections are sound.

5.1.4. Check that the operating button is switched to the automatic mode (II).

5.1.5. Turn the electrical mains power on and the external air supply if required.

5.2. OPERATING THE SYSTEM

5.2.1. Make the operating tool ready for use and turn the tool on which in turn will automatically activate the dust vacuum system.

Whilst performing the task the vacuum system will draw the dust up into the unit.

5.2.2. When you turn the tool off the vacuum system will continue to operate for approximately a further 10 seconds drawing up any remaining dust.

5.2.3. Any dust that still remains thereafter may be collected by using the system as an ordinary vacuum cleaner. To do so switch the

operating button (fig 4) to Stop 0 mode, turn off the air supply system (if connected) and remove all air hoses.

5.2.4. Disconnect the mains power lead and transport the vacuum system to appropriate area for use.

5.2.5. Re-plug into the mains power supply and hold the end of the dust extraction hose toward the dust and switch the operating button

(fig 4) to the manual mode (I). The unit will continue to operate until you switch it off by switching the power button back to 0.

NOTE: A vacuum cleaning accessory kit consisting hose, extension tubes, brush and nozzle is available. Contact your Sealey dealer for details.

5.3. CLEANING THE VACUUM SYSTEM

The dust bag may be emptied at any time as required (follow steps below). It is important to ensure however that the dust bag is not

filled to more than 2/3rds of its capacity.

5.3.1. Undo the clips on the side of the vacuum system drum and remove the motor head. Gently place the motor unit in a safe clean location and

remove the drum filter and keep safe and dry.

5.3.2. Check that the dust collection bag has enough free space to collect the dust that will be generated by the next task, (The bag is designed to

accommodate dust up to a maximum of 2/3rds of the bags total capacity and must not be exceeded). To remove the bag hold the plastic

retaining ring that fits around the inlet socket and gently pull the bag forward. Use the bags plastic cap to seal the inlet hole and dispose

of the bag accordingly. If the vacuum system is in constant use, we recommend that the paper bag is automatically replaced at the end of each

operating week. To refit the dust bag ensure the inlet collar is adequately pushed onto the inlet socket.

5.3.3. Take the drum filter and shake it in an appropriate safe area to expel any dust particles thus prolonging the life of your equipment.

We recommend that the filter is cleaned after every 10 hours operation. Check filter is in good condition and replace it into the drum. Replace the

motor head with power switch (fig 5.1) aligned with the Y connector inlet socket (fig 1. 2) securing it with the side clips.

NOTE: Blocked filters and/or over filled bags may damage the motor and will invalidate your warranty.

pWARNING! DO NOT operate the system without a filter or dust bag. Always ensure you use authorised spares, filters and bag. Contact your
