theRiverhawkequipmentrecentlyareencouragedtoreadtheentiremanual.

Checkhydraulicpressuregageforanydamage.
Thepumpreservoircapissealedforshipment.Replacethegreyshippingplugwiththered
plasticreservoircap.
Asupplyofclean,dryairisrequired.Lubricatedairisnotrequired.
Attachthemaleairfittingstothepump’sairfilter‐regulator.Attachthefemaleairfittingtothe
airhose.
Coupletheairhosetotheairfilter‐regulatorandadjusttheairfilter‐regulatorknobuntiltheair
pressuregagereadsthepressurelevelmarkedonthepump.Formostair‐drivenpumps,theair
supplypressureshouldbesettowithintherangeof80psi[5.5bar]to100psi[6.9bar].
Reviewsection5.2foroperatinginstructionspriortotestingthepump.
Testpumpbydead‐heading(leaveportpluginplace)andactivatethepump.Thepressure
gaugeshouldbuildpressureandthenholdthesteadypressurewhenthepumpstops.
4.2CheckHydraulicHose
Checkthehydraulichoseforanydamageincludingbenthoseends,kinkedhoseandsplitouter
lining.Ifanydamageisfound,replacethehoseimmediatelybycontactingRiverhawkCompany.

acetone.Donotforcethedebrisdeeperintotheport.

Step#1:Connectthepumptothetensionerwiththeappropriatehydraulichoseandopenthe
releaseknob.

CAUTION
Aircanbecometrappedinthehydraulicsystemwhenconnectinghosesandtensionerstoa
hydraulicpump.Refertothehydraulictensioner’sinstructionstodetermineifbleedingtheair
outofthehydraulicsystemisrequired.
CAUTION
Dependingontheamountofairpresentintheconnectedhosesortensioners,itmaybe
necessarytorefillthepumpwithhydraulicoil.
Step#4:Closethereleaseknobandpumptheleveruntilthetargethydraulicpressureis
reached.
Step#5:Oncethetargetpressureisreached,performthestepsrequiredbythetensioner’s
instructions.
Step#6:Torelievethehydraulicpressure,openthereleaseknobtoallowthetensionertofully
retract.Thetensionerwilltakeapproximately30secondstoretract.
Itisthebestpracticetoleavethereleaseknobintheopenpositionwhilethe
tensionerisconnectedtothepump.Eventhoughthepump’spressuregagereadsno
pressure,thetensionercanstillberetracting.
5.2Air‐DrivenPumpOperation
Thefigures3and4attheendofthismanualdepictthelocationofthecomponentsusedto
operatethehydraulicpumpkits.
Refertotheinsidecoverofthepumpforinstructionsthatarespecifictothepump.The
followingsectionsaregenericinstructionsthatmaybesupersededbytheinstructionsinside
thepump.
Step#1:Connectthepumptothetensionerwiththeappropriatehydraulichose.
