2.GETTING STARTED
1. Power ON/OFF
①Slide Power Switch to "ON" position. The display will turn on.
②BlueNote saves the last station and settings when powered off. When BlueNote is powered on again, it
automatically recalls and resumes operation at the last saved status.
③To turn the unit off, slide the Power Switch to "OFF" position.
2. Antenna Setting
In order to maximize receiving performance you may need to adjust antenna length.
For optimal reception in Band III the antenna should be fully extended.
In strong signal areas it is possible to reduce the antenna length without loss of sound quality.
∙
When reception is weak you may need to redirect antenna position for better reception.
3. Volume Control
Adjust volume level to a desired position by pressing Volume (+ / -) button.
BlueNote has 21 steps of volume control.
When the volume control buttons are pressed and held, the volume level will gradually be raised or lowered.

1. Ensemble Tuning
DAB signals are transmitted on frequency channels called "ensembles" and each ensemble will contain
several radio stations or services. Some of these services are available only at certain times of the day, such
as sports commentary channels.
Before BlueNote is tuned to a channel, the centre line on the display will be highlighted, and the channel
number will be displayed, for example 12B. On the bottom line "Tuning" is displayed, and the moving arrows
will show the progress of tuning.
When an ensemble is tuned, the ensemble name is displayed on the second line and the name of the service
or station selected is on first line. BlueNote will initially tune to the first service of the ensemble. To display and
listen to all the services on the ensemble use the ( ) or ( ) buttons to select the required service.
Some services are data services, and no audio signal will be heard. The "DATA" icon will be shown on the
display in this case.

When BlueNote is tuned to a radio service, the bottom line of the display will show additional information.
Normally the display shows scrolling text called “DLS” which may give programme information, contact

5. PRESET and MANUAL tuning
BlueNote is designed to receive the full range of frequencies allocated to DAB radio from 174 -240 MHz - a
total of 41 channels. However in the UK and most countries, only a small number of the total channels are
used at present. In PRESET mode only the 7 channels now used in the UK are tuned or scanned. In MANUAL
mode, the BlueNote can be tuned to any of the 41 channels, so if new multiplexes are introduced, it will
always be possible to tune them by switching to MANUAL mode (see page 8). Depending on your locality, not
all of the channels in PRESET mode will carry services. The list of channels is given in Appendix 1.
