Y ur Pentair heat pump will pr vide y u with years f heated p l enj yment. Heat pumps perate by taking heat
fr m the surr unding air and transferring it int the water. The warmer the air and the m re humidity in the air, the
m re latent heat is available f r heating y ur p l. With a pr perly sized heat pump f r y ur p l, the heat pump
sh uld raise y ur p l n average 1° C per 6 h ur depending n air temperature, humidity, and water temperature.
The ideal r rated c nditi n f r the heat pump is 26° C air temperature, 80% relative humidity, and 26° C water
temperature. As c nditi ns decrease fr m 80/80/80, the heat pump perf rmance will decrease slightly.
Heat Pumps are best utilized t maintain a set water temperature; they are n t intended t pr vide instant r fast
heating. It is n t reas nable t expect a heat pump t perf rm like a c nventi nal heater which has a much higher
utput and faster resp nse. Als , c nventi nal heaters are n t dependent n envir nmental c nditi ns. Swimming
p l heat pumps are very similar t h me heating and air c nditi ning heat pumps and theref re sh uld be treated
similarly.
Pr per perati n and use f the heat pump is t set it at y ur desired temperature and leave it. Y ur heat pump will
turn n and ff aut matically t maintain y ur desired temperature much like y ur h me air c nditi ning unit. T
take advantage f the sun’s energy, perate y ur heat pump during the heat f the day.
Y ur heat pump will still perate when the temperature dr ps at night, but the utput will be decreased. It is
acceptable t shut the heat pump ff and n t use it f r extended peri ds f time. When y u have a need t heat y ur
p l, please plan acc rdingly since it may take the heat pump days t heat y ur p l back t y ur desired
temperature, depending n y ur p l temperature and envir nmental c nditi ns.
H at Pump Installation R quir m nts
C rrect installati n is required t assure safe perati n. The requirements f r Pentair heat pumps include the
f ll wing:
•Dimensi ns f r critical c nnecti ns.
•Field assembly (if required).
•Appr priate site l cati n and clearances
•Pr per electrical wiring
•Adequate water fl w
This manual pr vides the inf rmati n needed t meet these requirements. Review all applicati n and installati n
pr cedures c mpletely bef re c ntinuing the installati n.
