pool, etc.).

3. This product should be used only with a cart or stand that will keep it level and stable and prevent wobbling.

4. This product, in combination with headphones or speakers, may be capable of producing sound levels that could cause

permanent hearing loss. Do not operate for a long period of time at a high volume level or at a level that is uncomfortable.

If you experience any hearing loss or ringing in the ears, you should consult an audiologist.

5. The product should be positioned so that proper ventilation is maintained.

6. The product should be located away from heat sources such as radiators, heat vents, or other devices

(including amplifiers) that produce heat.

unit, carefully examine the packaging and all contents for any signs of physical damage that may have occurred in transit.

(Note: Nady Systems is not responsible for shipping damage. If the unit is damaged, do not return to us, but notify your dealer and the

shipping company immediately to make a claim. Such claims must be made by the consignee in a timely manner.)

CONTENTS:

• Instruction manual

• RPA-4 (verify that the unit’s serial number is same as shown on shipping carton)

• AC Power cord

• Warranty Card

POWER CONNECTION

The PRA-4 has an internal power supply and is designed to operate from an external AC source. Power requirements for electrical

equipment differ from area to area. Be sure to confirm that the voltage selected by the voltage selector switch on the back panel is

proper for your area (120VAC/60 Hz or 230VAC/50Hz) per the information below:

Europe (except UK): 230V, 50Hz

UK and Australia: 240V, 50Hz

USA and Canada: 120V, 60 Hz

For other areas, please check with local authorities.

When ready to operate, plug the AC cord into the power source. Make sure that the unit is turned off before connecting to the AC

power source to avoid possible loud transients which can damage your speakers or your ears, especially when monitoring with head-

phones.

FRONT PANEL CONTROLS & CONNECTIONS

(1)

FRONT PANEL

Note: 1 through 6 below are referenced to Channel 1. The other 3

channels are identical.

(1) GAIN CONTROL

The Gain Control determines the proportion of the channel signal

in the mix,

(2) REVERB CONTROL

The Reverb Control adjusts the level of signal sent by each chan-

nel to the internal Reverb DSP (Digital Sound Processor). The

signal sent is mono, post-High/Low and will be affected by the

channel Gain Control.

(3) HIGH CONTROL

Turn this control to the right to boost high frequencies on the

channel, adding crispness to percussion from drum machines,

cymbals and synths. Turn to the left to cut these frequencies, re-

ducing sibilance, hiss, or high frequency feedback. The control has

a shelving response giving 15dB of boost or cut at 12kHz.

(4) LOW CONTROL

Add warmth to vocals or extra punch to guitars, drums and synths

on the channel by turning this control to the right. Turn to the left to

reduce stage rumble, hum or to improve a mushy sound. The con-

trol has a shelving response giving 15dB of bust or cut at 100Hz.

(5) LINE INPUT

The Line input is designed to accept balanced or unbalanced line-

level signals such as those from keyboards, drum machines, or

samplers. Use the GAIN control (1) to adjust for the desired level.

If a balanced signal is to be connected to the line input, then a

1/4” TRS (stereo) phone plug should be wired for: Tip = positive

(+), Ring = negative (-), Sleeve = ground.

(6) MIC INPUT

The Mic input is an electronically balanced XLR type designed

to accept signals from any balanced low impedance (Low Z) mi-

crophone. It will be necessary to adjust the channel gain with the

input GAIN control (1) to achieve a nominal operating level. The

XLR jack is configured for: Pin1 = ground, Pin2 = positive (+), Pin3

= negative (-).

(Note: Only either the Mic or the Line input of a given channel can

be connected at one time. Do not connect both simultaneously to

the same channel.)

(7) MASTER — VOLUME CONTROL

This controls the final level of the signal output.

(8) MASTER — REVERB CONTROL

This controls the level of the reverb effects sound.

(17) POWER SWITCH

Turns the unit ON or OFF. Always turn level controls down before

turning on the unit.

(18) VOLTAGE SELECTOR SWITCH

For selecting the proper voltage (115/230VAC) to match the power

supply in your area.

Note: To avoid damage to your unit, always make sure this switch

is set to the correct supply voltage. Damage caused by improper

use is not covered by the warranty.

(18) (17)

(19)

(19) POWER CONNECTOR WITH FUSE HOLDER

This standard IEC power cord receptacle is used to connect

the AC power to your unit. It features a built-in fuse holder for a

5X20mm, (4A/250V for 115VAC, and 2A/250V for 230VAC opera-

tion) fast-blow fuse. If the fuse continuously blows, shut off the unit

and have it serviced by qualified service personnel.

(20) EXTERNAL SPEAKER OUTPUT

1/4” (6.3mm) jack for connecting an external speaker cabinet to

the RPA-4. The connected speaker impedance must be 8 ohms

or greater. The RPA-4 external speaker output delivers 50W RMS

of power @ 8 Ohms.

CAUTION: Do not overload the RPA-4 with speaker loads less

than 8 ohms as this will degrade performance and may harm

the unit. Damage caused by improper use is not covered by the

warranty.

(21) LINE OUTPUT

These 1/4” (6.3mm) audio output is line level, post Master Volume,

designed for connecting to external recorders, mixers, or ampli-

fiers.

(20) (21)

FRONT PANEL CONTROLS & CONNECTIONS

(9) MASTER — DEPTH CONTROL

This controls the amount of feedback of the reverb reflection, i.e.

the number of reflections and the length of time before they dimin-

ish in volume.

(10) POWER ON LED INDICATOR

Indicates when the unit is ON.

(11) MASTER — HIGH CONTROL

The control has a shelving response giving 15dB of boost or cut at

12KHz.

(12) MASTER — MID CONTROL

The control has a shelving response giving 15dB of boost or cut at

1.5KHz.

(13) MASTER — LOW CONTROL

The control has a shelving response giving 15dB of boost or cut at

100Hz.

(14) EFFECTS SEND

This line level output can be connected to external recorders, am-

plifiers, or effects processors. The signal is a mix of the channel

inputs determined by each Channel Gain control.

(15) EFFECTS RETURN

This input can be used to return the effected signal into the RPA-6

or it can be used as an auxiliary input. The input signal can be

adjusted by the Master Volume and the unit the return jack is con-

nected to.

(16) TAPE IN AND TAPE OUT

The Left and Right TAPE IN allows cassette recorders or CD

players to be added to the Main output. The RECORD OUTPUT,

with TAPE RCA jacks, provides signal output to a cassette deck or

home audio equipment.
