Introduction
The current operation manual (OM) is a document containing information about the purpose,
the basic parameters and technical characteristics, structure and principle of operation of
the shockproof shield with the function of non-lethal stun effect «Scala» (hereinafter - the
«product»), the instructions necessary for its safe and correct operation (description and
operation, intended use, maintenance, storage and transportation).
The requirements and recommendations set out in the operating manual are mandatory
to ensure the safety of operational reliability, full use of technical capabilities and maximum
service life of the product.
Before using the product, it is necessary to carefully read this operating manual.
1 Description and operation of the product
1.1 Purpose of the product
The product has two versions. Compliance of the versions with the positions in the design
documentation is shown in Table 1.

1.1.1 The product is designed to provide non-lethal effects on the offender by series of

electrical current pulses of high voltage or when using an additional electric shock device
AIR-107 «SCORPION-A» (350) (SMKP30.00.00.00.000 TS) - Type-01 execution, or when
using its own built-in electroshock device - Type-02 execution, as well as to protect employees
of internal affairs from mechanical influences.
The product of the «Type-01» version has a seat that provides the possibility of connecting
an electroshock device of a special portable AIR-107 «SCORPION-A» (350) (Fig.1) (hereinafter
referred to as an «electroshock device»).
The product of the «Type-02» version has its own built-in electroshock device (hereinafter
referred to as «the shocker handle»). (fig.2)
The product of both versions can have a special fire-resistant coating on the outside of the
case, designed to protect against ignition (by documentary order).

1.1.3 The field of application of the product is the use of the product during operational
activities or special operations by employees of the internal affairs bodies (or) military personnel
of the internal troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

WITH AN ADDITIONAL («TYPE 01») OR OWN BUILT-IN («TYPE 02») ELECTROSHOCK
DEVISE INSTALLED AND SWITCHED ON.

1.3 Product components
1.3.1 The product consists of («Type 01» – fig.1a, «Type 02» –fig.1b):
• impact resistant case (1);
• removable electroshock device AIR-107 «SСORPION-A»

• built-in electric shock device «handle-shocker» (3) - «Type 02»;
• a trap (4) designed to install an electroshock device AIR-107 «SСORPION-A»
(350)
(«Type 01»)and to ensure reliable electrical contact.

1.3.2 On the outer side of the case there are located («Type 01» – fig.2a, «Type 02» – fig.2b):
• conductive foil (5) with the electrodes (6);
• glass (7) between the electrodes for additional isolation;
• insulating film (not shown);
• fireproof coating (on the additional order) – not shown.
1.3.3 On the inner side of the product «Type 01» there are located (fig. 3):
• handle (8) and a brace (9) designed to hold the product safely;
• staples (10) designed to attach the electroshock device to the product;
• shock absorber (11) designed for additional internal insulation of the product.

1.3.4 On the inner side of the product «Type 02» there are located (fig. 4):
• handle (8) and a brace (9) designed to hold the product;
• shock absorber (11) designed for additional internal insulation of the product;
• «handle-shocker» (own built-in electroshock device) (12) designed to provide a stable
electric discharge between the electrodes on the outside of the product.
1.3.5 Next to the lower handle (8) on the electroshock device AIR-107 «SСORPION-A»
(350) in the case «Type 01» there are also (fig.5):
• safety lock (13) that excludes accidental activation of an electroshock device AIR-107
«SСORPION-A» (350);
• the «start» button (14).

1.3.6 On the «handle-shocker» (12) in the «Type 02» case (with its own built-in electroshock
device) there are (fig 6):
• safety lock (charge indicator) (15) that excludes accidental activation of the «handle-
shocker»;
• the «start» button;
• the battery case (17).
1.3.7
The content of precious materials and nonferrous
metals in the product does not exceed the norm.
1.4 Product design and operation
1.4.1
The damaging effect of the «Type 01» product
in contact mode is based on joint use with an external
electroshock device AIR-107 «SСORPION-A»
(350)
,
due to which high voltage pulses are generated and then
transmitted to the outer surface of the product using a
catcher.
The damaging effect of the «Type 02» product in contact
mode is based on the use of its own electroshock device
(«shocker handle» (fig.4), thanks to which high voltage
pulses are generated and then transmitted to the outer
surface of the product using a catcher.
1.4.2 Impact resistant housing also allows the use of the product as a shield to protect
against shocks and / or other mechanical influences.

1.4.3 An additional fire-resistant coating provides protection against inflammation of the
product and users.
1.4.4 Operation procedure of the product is set out in paragraph 2 of the actual OM.
1.5 Measuring instruments, tools and accessories
1.5.1 Measuring equipment, tools and accessories are not used for operation of the product.
1.6 Marking and sealing
1.6.1 The product is marked with the following information:
• name of the country of manufacture (Russia);
• manufacturer’s name (trademark);
• product identification;
• factory number;
• inscription «Made in Russia»;
• certification system conformity mark.
1.6.2 Method and place of the marking in accordance with the instructions given in
the design documentation SMKP20.00.00.00.000 and SMKP20.00.00.00.000-01 for the
corresponding versions of products.
1.6.3 The product is not subject to sealing.
1.7 Package
1.7.1 The product «Type 01» and «Type 02» is packed in an individual cover which ensures
its safety during transportation and storage.
