NOTICE OF ASSEMBLY, UTILISATION AND MAINTENANCE OF
THE ‘JIDE’ FIREPLACE INSERT
REF. DECOR 16/9.PL+ DECOR 16/9.PL.DF+ DECOR 84.PL + DECOR 84.PL.DF+
Fuel: Wood (less than a maximum of 20 % humidity is advised).
Please read the entire notice carefully and keep it safe.
For your safety and satisfaction, entrust your installation to your installer/salesman. Nevertheless, you can
install your replace yourself. In that case, please read this document whose purpose is that of familiarising you
with your JIDE replace insert.
Our liability is limited to the supply of the device. Its installation must be implemented in accordance with the
instructions contained in the present notice and with local regulations, as well as with European Standard EN
13229. These regulations set the rules of installation, insulation and connection of closed wood-burning repla-
ces in new or old buildings, as well as regulations relating to fume extraction ues.
I. INSTALLATION
The manner in which you install your ‘JIDE’ replace may have a decisive inuence on your safety and
on its correct functioning.
- Prior to installing the device it is necessary to ensure that the fume extraction ue is well sealed.
If necessary, arrange for the ue to be rst swept and ensure that its section makes it possible to
connect it to the replace.
- If possible, the section of the fume extraction ue shall be
similar to that of the replace. If the section of the fume extrac
tion ue is much larger than that of the output of the device, it
is advisable to insert a tube into the ue over its entire height
and to ensure that the connection is perfectly sealed.
The connection is to be implemented according to the
rules-of-the-art. It is necessary to monitor the condition
of the existing fume extraction, but even more carefully
to monitor the connection of the existing hose. A poor connec
tion may cause an accident. Use only stainless steel hoses sui
table for the application.
- A ue employed for a replace insert is to have normal drau
ght, that is to say that at maximum power the depression shall l
ie between 10 and 20 Pa.
- Take the precaution of protecting by means of ‘high tempera
ture’ thermal insulation any combustible materials located
close to the device. Since the temperature of the fumes
in the fume extraction ue may reach 300° to 400°, it
may trigger the combustion of non-insulated combusti
ble materials.

- In order to improve the output of your replace, protect the upper back face, as well as the two side
faces of the device by means of «high-temperature» thermal insulation.
- Ensure that the fresh air inlets located on the sides and at the back of the device are not blocked.
- Assemble the 4 feet, taking into account if wishing to install ventilation, to leave a minimum space of
210 millimetres under the device. The device must be integrated into the brickwork. ATTENTION!
This device is supplied without ventilation (optional: kit ventilation). In order to avoid overheating of
the device and to obtain satisfactory, it is mandatory to remove the hot air outlet plates on the upper
part of the housing. Provide for the extraction of hot air via an aluminium exible hose.
II. ELECTRICAL CONNECTION (Voltage: 220 V)
The connection to the variable speed drive is implemented according to the diagram below.
Input: brown L 3 M 6 output brown
Input: blue N 5 M 4 output blue
Input: yellow/green 1 2 : output
- The earth wire is to be connected to the fan.
- The speed of the fan is controlled by a variable speed drive, making it possible to adapt the ventilation
to your needs.
III. FANS (optionally 1 x 750 m³)
The ventilation must always function, at least on minimum of the ow.
Machine Directives 89/392CE - 98/37/CE
Access to the fan for cleaning and maintenance.
- Remove the vermiculite panels in the bottom of the apparatus
and the gris.

IV. HOT AIR OUTLET
Our devices are equipped with 4 supplementary hot air outlets, making possible the distribution of air
via exible belts in rooms located in vicinity;
Remove the outlet protection plate and fasten thereon the belt connection unions.
Attention! Regardless of the power of the fans, the distance at which the air shall be pulsed is neverthe
less limited.
VI. IGNITION
- Lift the door completely.
- Put blocks of lights re and small wood in the apparatus.
- Ignite the re and lower the door leaving a space of approximately 5 cm to ensure good draught and avoid
the soiling of the cold glass. (Too low a temperature causes condensation which will deposit on the glass.)
- After loading (door open) and when the re is bright, gradually close the glass until it is completely closed.
- In the event of bad pulling of chimney or bad wood qulity, raise the door 1 cm in order to ensure a sufcient
air ow and a good re starting.
- In the case of poor draught or poor quality of wood (humid), leave the door slightly ajar to ensure an ade
quate input of air and a good start of the re.
- If hot draught is insufcient (problem of repulsion), it is necessary to remove the bafe.
- To ensure good functioning, do not remove ash from the replace completely; but leave a 2-3 cm layer of
ash on the grid.
- When the apparatus has a ventilator, you regulate the ow wished with the variable speed controler. The
ventilator must always function.
V. AIR OF COMBUSTION
This apparatus is équipped with a external air instake system for combustion air (A).
The adjustement of the air inlet of combustion is carred out with the assistance of the lever (B), located
on the right of the apparatus.
Positioned on the left, open completely the air inlet of combustion, primary air under the grib and
secondary air by the holes on the back of the apparatus.
In the center, the primary air inlet is closed. The apparatus nction only with the secondary air of combus
tion.
Positioned on the right, you close olmost completly the arrive of the combustion air.

5
IMPORTANT!
THE DEVICE CAN ONLY FUNCTION WITH BOTH DOORS OPEN IN THE
DOUBLE FACE VERSION
For raising and lowering the door, always use the raising system located at the
bottom of the left hand chassis
To reload the re with fuel it is compulsory to use the door! The side door is only
used for cleaning the glass. After cleaning of the glass it is necessary to re-close the
side door rmly since otherwise the side door may become forced open.
ATTENTION! In the case of utilisation of an ‘open re’, provide a spark Shield.
NEVER FUNCTION WITH THE DOOR OPEN 2-3 CM IN
NORMAL UTILISATION
VII. CLEANING OF GLASS
Cleaning of glass is implemented with the door open sideways.
Always introduce the st via the bottom of the joggle in order
to assist the rotation movement of the door.
Clean the glass with a cloth soaked in water with an addition of vine
gar; suitable commercial products are also available. Do not use an
abrasive sponge. Take care not to damage the joint on the periphery
of the door. If necessary, it can be replaced.
VIII. ADVICE - REMINDER
- Implement an annual sweep in order to limit the deposits of tar in the fume extraction ue.
- It is necessary to monitor the condition of cleanliness of the fan. An accumulation of dust causes an
imbalance of the turbine and pushes the motor which may then burn out or become noisy. If necessary,
clean it 2-3 times a year. For greater ease, remove the fan from its seat, but before doing so, ensure that
the current input is cut off.
- Once or twice a year depending on the amount of use, clean and grease the door sliding axles using a
high temperature grease.
- Panels of protection (vermiculite) of the heating element may crack without preventing normal functio
ning of the device. Nevertheless, ensure that no part of it is missing. If it is, replace the damaged panel.
IX. TYPE OF FUEL
‘Wood’
Certain types of wood heat better than others. ‘Green’ wood contains a lot of water (approximately 50
%). Normally, ‘dry’ wood stored outside for18 to 24 months and well ventilated, still contains 15 to 20
% of water.
Humid wood is more difcult to burn and has lower caloric value.
Humid fumes have, inter alia, the disadvantages of reduced draught and of the formation of tar in the
fume extraction ue and on cold surfaces (glass, etc...).
