2.1OPERATINGINSTRUCTIONS
• Ensure that the instructions in this book are
readandfullyunderstood.
• Nopersonshouldbe allowedto operatethis
machine unless they are fully acquainted with
all the controls and the safety procedures.
• Neverallowchildrenorpeopleunfamiliarwith
these instructions to use this machine. Local
regulations may restrict the age of the
operator.
2.2SAFETYSIGNS
• It is essential all safety labels are kept
legible, if they are missing or illegible they
must be replaced. If any part of the machine
is replaced and it originally carried a safety
label, a new label must be affixed to the
replacementpart. New safety labels are
obtainablefromRansomesdealers.
2.3STARTINGTHEENGINE
• Before starting the engine check that the
brakesareapplied,drivesareinneutral,
guards are in position and intact, and
bystandersare clear of the machine.
• Do not run the engine in a building without
adequateventilation.
2.4DRIVINGTHEMACHINE
• Beforemovingthemachine,checktoensure
thatall parts are in good working order,
paying particular attention to brakes, tyres,
steering and the security of cutting blades.
• Replace faulty silencers, mow only in daylight
orgoodartificial light
• AlwaysobservetheHighwayCodebothon
andoff the roads. Keep alert and aware at all
times. Watch out for traffic when crossing or
nearroadways.
• Stopthebladesrotatingbeforecrossing
surfacesotherthangrass.
• Rememberthatsomepeoplearedeaforblind
and that children and animals can be
unpredictable.
• Keeptravellingspeedslowenoughforan
emergencystop to be effective and safe atall
times, in any conditions.
• Removeoravoidobstructionsintheareato
be cut, thus reducing the possibility of injury

toyourselfand/orbystanders.
• Whenreversing, take specialcare toensure
that the area behind is clear of obstructions
and/orbystanders. DONOTcarry passengers.
• Keep in mind that the operator or user is

• When the machine is to be parked, stored or
leftunattended, lower the cutting means unless
the transport locks are being used.
• Whilemowing, always wear substantial
footwearandlong trousers. Do notoperate the
equipmentwhenbarefootorwearingopen
sandals.
• Checkthegrasscatcher frequentlyforwear or
deterioration. Afterstrikinga foreignobject
Inspectthelawnmowerfordamageandmake
repairsbeforerestartingandoperatingthe
equipment.
• Ifthemachine startstovibrate abnormally,
check immediately.
2.5TRANSPORTING
• Ensure that the cutting units are securely
fastened in the transport position. Do not
transportwith cuttingmechanism rotating.
• Drivethemachinewithdueconsiderationof
roadand surface conditions,inclines and local
undulations.
2.6LEAVINGTHE DRIVINGPOSITION
• Parkthemachineonlevelground.
• Beforeleavingthedrivingposition,stopthe
engineandmakesureallmovingpartsare
stationary. Apply brakes and disengage all
drives.Removethestarterkey.
2.7SLOPES
TAKEEXTRACAREWHENWORKINGON
SLOPES
• Localundulations andsinkage willchange the
generalslope.Avoidgroundconditionswhich
can cause the machine to slide.
• Keep machine speeds low on slopes and
duringtight turns.
• Remember there is no such thing as a “safe”
slope.
• Travelongrassslopesrequiresparticularcare.
2.8BLOCKEDCUTTINGCYLINDERS
• Stopthe engineand makesure allmoving
partsare stationary.
• Applybrakes anddisengagealldrives.

• Release blockages with care. Keep all parts
of the body away from the cutting edge.
Bewareofenergy in thedrivewhichcan
causerotation when the blockage is released.
• Keepother people away from the cutting units
as rotation of one cylinder can cause the
others to rotate.
2.9ADJUSTMENTS,LUBRICATIONAND
MAINTENANCE
• Stopthe engineand makesure allmoving
partsare stationary.
• Applybrakes anddisengagealldrives.
• Readalltheappropriateservicinginstructions.
• Use only the replacement parts supplied by
theoriginalmanufacturer.
• When adjusting the cutting cylinders take
carenot toget hands andfeet trapped when
rotatingcylinders.
• Makesure that other people are not touching
any cutting units, as rotation of one cylinder
can cause the others to rotate.
• Toreducethefirehazard,keeptheengine,
silencerandbatterycompartmentsfreeof
grass,leavesorexcessivegrease.
• Replacewornordamagedpartsforsafety.
• Whenworkingunderneathliftedpartsor
machines,makesure adequate supportIs
provided.
• Do not dismantle the machine without
releasingorrestrainingforceswhichcan
causeparts tomove suddenly.

4 TOPS INSTALLATION
4.1 ASSEMBLYOF SEAT BELTKIT TOMILSCO
CE-200SEAT.
Make sure that the machine is parked on flat
level ground, with the cutting units down in the
cutting position, with the parking brakes ON,
ignitionOFFand the keyremovedfrom the
ignition.
Removeretaining screws& raisethe seat
plate, secure with the seat stay.
Fully loosen the clamping bolt that is
assembledthrough the spacer on bothsides
of the seat.
4.2 RHSIDE OF THESEAT
Fittheplate on theRETRACTORbetweenthe
spacerand the seatframe.
Securely tighten clamping bolt (25 - 35 Nm)
4.3 LHSIDE OFTHE SEAT
Fit the plate on the BUCKLE between the
spacerand the seatframe.
Securely tighten clamping bolt (25 - 35 Nm)
Lowerseatplate and refitretainingscrews.

4.4 ASSEMBLY OF SEAT BELT KIT TO
MICHIGANV-5300SEAT.
Make sure that the machine is parked on flat
level ground, with the cutting units down in the
cutting position, with the parking brakes ON,
ignitionOFFand the keyremovedfrom the
ignition.
Removeretaining screws& raisethe seat
plate, secure with the seat stay.
4.5 RHSIDE OF SEAT
Fitthe plateon theRETRACTOR againstthe
threaded boss on seat frame.
Fit Washer to Hex Head Screw, and screw
intothreaded boss.
4.6 Securely tighten screw (25 - 35 Nm).

4.7 LH SIDE OF SEAT
Fit the plate on the BUCKLE against the
threaded boss on seat frame.
Fit Washer to Hex Head Screw, and screw
intothreaded boss.
4.8 Securely tighten screw (25 - 35 Nm).
Lowerseatplate and refitretainingscrews.

4.9 ASSEMBLY OF TOPS FRAME KIT

Careshouldbetakenwhenhandlingheavy
weights. When handling such items
assistance may be required, or suitable lifting
equipmentshouldbeused.
Fit TOPS frame into position, and secure with
relevanthandware.
Bolt 'A' should be fitted and fully tightened
beforebolt 'B'is assembled.
Theboltsshould be tightenedto the following
torques: M10 = 46 Nm, M12 = 79 Nm
4.10 All bolts should be assembled so that the bolt
heads face the centreline of the machine: as
shownin the diagrams.
