4 OPERATION
Before connec ing o he load for he firs ime he LSU80A has o be se o he nominal vol age of
he load sys em i is going o supply. The following s eps mus be followed prior o connec ing o
he load.
Apply power o he LSU80A wi h load unconnec ed. Power swi ch pressed o he down
posi ion.
Press he RUN bu on and check he ou pu s a e RUN LED is li GREEN and he STOPPED LED
is no li .
The VOLTAGE display will show he value of ou pu vol age ha is curren ly se .
Use he OUTPUT TRIM push bu ons o se he ou pu vol age display o he load
vol age required. This se ing will be remembered when power is removed. No e if you press
and hold ei her he push bu ons he adjus men will be con inuous.
Press he s op bu on and check he RUN LED is no li and he STOPPED LED is li .
The vol age display will slowly reduce o zero, or will fall o zero very rapidly if he load is
connec ed.
A his poin he load can be connec ed.
If any residual vol age is shown on he VOLTAGE display his will reduce very rapidly o zero.
If he load already has a vol age presen , such as a ba ery main ained sys em hen he
VOLTAGE display will show his value.
The following s eps are followed upon equipmen connec ion.
Press he START push bu on and verify he RUN LED is li and he STOPPED LED is no li .
The VOLTAGE display will show he ou pu vol age.
The CURRENT display will show he ou pu amps being drawn from he uni .
When he ou pu vol age is no longer required press he STOP push bu on.
A very high curren s he vol age drop in he leads may no provide enough vol age a he
equipmen .
To overcome his high vol age drop he ou pu vol age can be rimmed by pressing he
OUTPUT TRIM push bu ons o se he desired ou pu . This se ing will be remembered
when power is removed. No e if you press and hold ei her he push bu ons he
adjus men will be con inuous.
On ba ery main ained sys ems cau ion mus be observed when using he rim fea ure as no
o overcharge he ba ery as high vol ages will cause some of he curren o be passed o he
