worldagreedtouseasingleRIAAEQcurveforall
records.However,therealityisthatonlyafter1980s,
allrecordsareactuallyusingRIAAEQcurves(justthink,
howeasyisittoreachasingleagreementonaglobal
scale?Andimplementitovertheshortspaceof1‐2years?).
IfthewrongEQcurveisused,therecordwillnotsound“right.”Forexample:Deutsche
Grammophon’sclassicalrecordsreleasedbefore1980oftensounddryandflat,thereasonis
becausethoseweremanufacturedusingtheDECCAEQcurve,nottheRIAAEQcurve.
