1. SAFETY SUMMARY
ÕWARNING:
-This product is used for BMS connection adapter for HITACHI Water Chilling Units.
-Do not place the adapter in a place where flammable gas, or oil mist may stay exit, it will
cause a fire, a fire disaster, deformation of machines, corrosion or breakage
-a place where oil mist or steam drifts.
-a place where sulfide gas form as hot spring drifts.
-In the case that a medical equipment generating electro-magneticwaves is installed near
the Water Chillers, pay an attention to the radiation direction does not occur.
-It is recommended that a space of 3 m or more between HARC70-CE and the medical
equipment, radios, etc. be provided.
-Do not place the adapter in a place to be exposed to direct sunlight.
-Install action:
-Install properly this adapter by following this manual to avoid any electric shock, fire
disaster and injury by falling down HARC70-CE1.
-Check to ensure that the adapter is fixed firmly to avoid injury by falling.
-To avoid the fire or fire disaster, do not install the adapter in a place where there is
possibility of generation or flow of flammable gases.
-Electrical Work:
-To avoid any electric shock, ask for the work to the shop having qualification for
electrical works.
-To avoid any electric shock and disaster, perform electrical wiring according to local
regulations.
-To avoid electric shock, and fire disaster, use the prescribed cable to connect of Water
Chiller units, (model HARC70-CE1)
-Turn off electrical power before electric wiring work when the cover of HARC70-CE1
is opened.
2. SYSTEM CONSTITUTION
2.1. SYSTEM CONSTITUTION
The Internal Constitution of BMS connection using HARC70-CE1 is indicated in the Figure1.1.
Read this manual together with the “Installation & Operation Manual” for other units which are
connected. As for the other equipment which composes the system, read the handling manual
which was attached to each.

2.3. NAME OF TERMINAL PORTIONS AND SETTING POSITIONS OF DIP SWITCHES
Names and functions are indicated Fig. 1.4. This indicates the figure without the cover of
HARC70-CE1. Read “Section 4” for Connecting Method of each Terminal and Setting of
Dip Switches.

(1) 8 Pins DSW [S202]
Read 5.1 “Setting of Dip Switch” to set the address of HARC70-CE1. 8 Pins DSW are used for Self-Inspection.
For details, refer to the 6.1 “Self Checking of HARC70-CE1”.

Read 5.1 “Setting of Dip Switch” for the detail and function of HARC70-CE1.
(3) 7-Segment

3.1. INSTALLATION
Selection of Installation Position Select a place for installation which can meet the Following
conditions.
-a place that described in “Before Installation of this manual”.
-a place in a metallic cabinet which is grounded and is shut tightly.
3.2. INSTALLATION PROCEDURES
-Install the HARC70-CE1 by keeping the screw terminal board at the lower side.
-Installation methods are as follows:
a) Mounting on DIN Rail (35mm) (DIN Rail: Field-Supplied)
1. Hook the edge of the HARC70-CE1 at
theUpper part on the DIN Rail.
2. Press the another edge to the railuntil
the HARC70-CE1 is fully fixed.

4. WIRING CONNECTION METHOD
ÕATTENTION:
-Read and understand SAFETY SUMMARY of this manual before wiring work.
-Do not perform wiring this work by a person expect certified ones.
4.1. INSTALLATION OF WIRING
1. Regarding HARC70-CE1, transmission line
for water chillers and transmission line for
Upper system monitoring equipment are
required.

cover of HARC70-CE1 horizontally.

In case of using Cable with shield, connect the shield through film resistance of metal that 470kΩ,
1/4W (wattage), Degree.
4.2. ELECTRICAL WIRING
1. Turn OFF the main power switch to the wiring that connects to HARC70-CE1 and water chiller
before electrical wiring.
2. Connect the wiring following the below Table. The number in Table indicates the refererence of
sub-chapter 4.1 “Wiring Method” (page 4/6).

NOTE:
The mark “Ù”indicates position of dips switches.
5.1. SETTING OF DIP SWITCH
1. Open the covers of HARC70-CE1 for lower
cover and setting of Dip Switch at the near
side.
2. By setting of 8 Pins Dip Switch ad shown
below, normal operation is available.

5.2. TEST RUN
1. Check to ensure that “Electrical Wiring” and “Setting of Dip Switch” are completed.
2. Turn ON the power source according to the following.
-Turn ON the power source for Water Chiller Unit.
-Turn ON the power for HARC70-CE1.
3. Check the operation of HARC70-CE1.

4. Check the quantity of connected Water Chiller.
The quantity of the connected Water Chiller is indicated by pressing Push Switch (PSW[M.CLR])
with “00” on 7-Segment.
5. As described above, Test Run of HARC70-CE1 will be finished.
5.3. INDICATION OF ABNORMALITY
Abnormality can be checked by indication of 7-Segment for HARC70-CE1.
