Introduction
Introduction
This document provides detailed procedures for the installation and
configuration of the software and hardware necessary needed for
wireless transmission of data from the MAC 5000 resting ECG analysis
system to the MUSE CV information system. Once this option is properly
installed and configured, the modem of the MAC 5000 is not used, or
required, in order to transfer and receive data from or to the MUSE
system. To the MAC 5000 user who is transmitting data to the MUSE
system, the functionality of the MobileLink option and the modem option
are the same.

Sending a report from the MUSE system to the MAC 5000 is not
supported by the MobileLink option.
General Information and Guidelines
These are the conventions used in this manual.
Items shown in Bold text are keys on the keyboard, text to be
entered, or hardware items such as buttons or switches on the
equipment.
To perform an operation which appears with a plus (+) sign between
the names of two keys, you press and hold the first key while
pressing the second key once. This is called a keystroke combination.
For example, “Press Ctrl + Esc” means to press and hold down the
Ctrl key while pressing the Esc key.
When instructions are given for typing a precise text string with one
or more spaces, the point where the spacebar must be pressed is
indicated as: [Space]. The purpose of the [ ] brackets is to ensure
you press the spacebar when required.
Enter means to press the “Enter” or “Return” key on the keyboard.
Do not type “enter”.
Italicized items are software terms which identify menu items,
buttons, or options in various windows.
Revision History
Each page of the document has the document part number and revision
letter at the bottom of the page. The revision letter changes each time the
document is updated.

Introduction
System Requirements
Before installing the MobileLink option, ensure that the following
requirements are met.
MAC 5000 carts must be at software version 7A.2 or higher.
MUSE CV system must meet one of the following requirements:
5C: 005C.10 or higher,
5D: 005D.04 or higher,
or
5E: 005E.08 or higher
Customer Responsibility
GE Service is responsible for the initial installation and configuration of
the MobileLink wireless communication for ECG. Any changes made to
configuration, security, etc. by the customer after the initial installation
are the responsibility of the customer.

Contact the GE Medical Systems Information Technologies On-Line
Center at 1-800-558-7044 if you have questions or problems while
performing this installation.

Before You Begin
Print the Configuration Capture File
Be sure all the information about this system has been accurately
entered into the Configuration Capture file (2002783-067). Prior to this
installation, you may have received a copy of this file from Project
Management with information gathered during pre-installation. If so,
use that copy of the Configuration Capture file. If you have not received a
Configuration Capture, you can obtain a blank version of this file on the
MobileLink CD (PN 2015391-001). Print a copy of this file as a reference
to use during the installation. During installation, you will be adding
information to this file and storing the completed file on the MUSE file
server.

Client Bridge Configuration

As you configure the bridge, be sure that the information is
accurately recorded on the Service Label (one provide with each
client bridge) and that this information matches the information in
the Configuration Capture file (2002783-067) and the information
entered during the configuration. After configuration is done and the
information has been entered on the label, you will be asked to apply
the label to the bottom of the client bridge bracket assembly.
Service Label
1. Connect the client bridge to a computer using a straight through
network cable. Plug in the AC adapter for power.

In order for the symbolst.exe application to work properly, the
computer must be connected ONLY to the client bridge. Any
other network communications will cause errors with the
application.
If the computer is unable to access the client bridge, see
“Troubleshooting” on page 27 for a suggested remedy.
2. Insert the MobileLink CD.
3. Execute the SymbolStationManager program by double-clicking the
symbolst.exe file.

The CB-1000 Unit List window appears.
4. Select the device identified on the top line and click Configure.
The startup screen for the configuration tool appears.

5. Select the Network tab on the left side.
Enter the IP Address of the MAC 5000 client bridge and the
associated Netmask for this network segment.

The Gateway address is only needed if the MAC 5000 will be on a
different subnet than the MUSE file server.
6. Select the Serial tab on the left side and then select the UART tab
from the top row of tabs.
7. Select/verify the following in the UART tab:
Baud 115200
Data bits 8 bits
Stop bits 1bit
Parity none
