General Information

The FD201LIFT is a 20.1" LCD with Motorized Lift which allows installation

inside a cabinet or credenza. The unit is deployed using a DPDT switch to either

raise or lower the unit. The LCD automatically turns on when power is applied.

Built with retrofit aircraft integration in mind, this display can switch between

three video input sources using an infrared remote. (VGA, S-Video, Composite)

Additional Information

The unit features rugged aluminum slides to provide smooth travel when stowing

and deploying. It also incorporates a heavy-duty 24 VDC belt driven motor which

turns two vertically mounted lead screws to move the LCD up or down. The unit

includes ball and stud receptacles on the top of the monitor to allow for mounting

a wood veneer top cover. This feature completely conceals the unit when in its

stowed position inside the cabinet or credenza.

The FD201LIFT utilizes a state of the art digital video decoding chipset for the

analog video input. There are three video source inputs available. They are in

order of picture quality: (1) VGA (computer graphics like Moving Maps), (1) S-

Video, (1) Composite Video (DVD, camera or VCR). Both NTSC and PAL

formats are auto detected.

The FD201LIFT can also be connected to existing video switches and take a

composite video input from a selector interface box. In this case multiple input

sources can be selected and displayed on the monitor. In this case the IR

remote would only be necessary for initial set up and changes in video picture

options.

The LCD is protected with a .060” anti-glare/abrasion Lexan lens to prevent

scratching of the LCD and reduce glare.

The FD201LIFT can turn up to 90°either way. It also features two worm gears

which can be adjusted with a flat head screwdriver to limit the amount of travel

from left to right. One revolution equates approximately 5 degrees of adjustment.

This is especially helpful in areas that the monitor may be close to the interior

curvature of the fuselage, and it can be locked as needed to avoid contacting the

interior.

As the LCD is turned either left of right, an internal microswitch

cuts power to the down limit microswitch. This safety feature

ensures that the LCD cannot be lowered until it has been

returned to its original position.

Installation Instructions

All cabin entertainment equipment, such as the FD201LIFT should be installed

on a non-essential bus and have a dedicated circuit breaker. It is a requirement

that a switch be installed in the cockpit so that the pilot can de-energize the

entertainment system should it become necessary.

The upper limit is factory set, and any adjustment to the upper limit could

damage the LCD power cut off switch and prevent the unit from turning on.

This modification is not covered under warranty.

Power

This is a 28VDC monitor that requires 1.5 Amps of power to operate the LCD,

and .4A of power to operate the mechanical lift. It is recommended that the LCD

and lift be powered by two separate circuit breakers.

Adjusting Stowed Position Height

The lower limit as it applies to the stowed position can be adjusted as follows:

Raise the display to the fully deployed position. Located at the top left corner of

the lift is a threaded rod that can be turned counter clockwise with a #2 flat head

screwdriver to raise the lower limit, and then clockwise to bring it back down.

This provides a minor adjustment for leveling the top of the unit (up to 1”) with

the cabinet or credenza.

Video Wiring Suggestions

All shields should be grounded to the connector at the source, and floating at the

display.

Avoid routing video wiring parallel to:

•AC wiring

•Strobe wiring

•DC motor supply cables

•Inverter cabling

•Or any other potential noise source.

S-Video/Composite and Audio Wiring

Recommended cable for s-video/composite and audio purposes is PIC 75 Ohm

Coax, P/N V75268. This is a lightweight, flexible, and low signal loss cable which

meets FAA flammability requirements of FAR 23.1359(d), FAR 25.853(a) and

FAR 25.869(a)(4).

Similar aviation coaxial cable can be used from other vendors, as well.

Some aircraft are prone to AC noise – we recommend adding to the composite

source a 75Ohm video isolation transformer such as Deerfield Laboratory, Inc.

Part No. 162-1 (www.deerfieldlab.com, (650) 632-4090). In most cases this

should be added to the video output of the source.

VGA Wiring

Recommended cable for VGA purpose is ECS P/N 453005. This is a single

shielded cable containing 5 separate coaxial cables, color-coded to match the

functions of the wires.

The individual wires should be extended with 6” 22awg wires using an

environmental splice for the red & green wires, and Raychem caps for the blue,

white, and black wires.

ECS manufactures an HDMI cable that is terminated at the factory. It is ordered

as part number 600-19786-XXX, where XXX is the length in inches for the

desired cable.

Power and Ground Wiring

20 AWG wire is recommended for Power and Ground applications.
