Introduction
Congratulations on your new
EXPAIN Change Neck & Shoulders!
This is a unique device that allows
you to monitor the muscle activity in
the neck and shoulder muscles in a
new way. EXPAIN Change Neck &
Shoulders provides Biofeedback to
help you change habits that may
cause pain. Biofeedback is a
learning process where observation
of the signals from your own body,
leads to a changed habits. The
device vibrates when you have
strained muscle activity patterns.
This allows you to change your bad
habits, which again may eliminate
the cause of your pain.
EXPAIN Change Neck &
Shoulders can be connected
with a smartphone via Bluetooth
Smart, or it can be used without
connection to a phone. If you wish
to keep track of your historical
muscle activity pattern, download

(iOS or Android).

information. The unit is wireless,
powered with a rechargeable
battery and is attached to the
skin over the muscles in the neck /
shoulder region with the
included patch.
Before Use
EXPAIN Change Neck & Shoulders
is made for personal use. Read
instructions carefully. The unit must
be charged before the rst use. See
section for battery and charging for
more information on how the device
is charged.
(NB: The device should not be used
at night, and the unit should not be
on the body continuously for over
16 hours. If there are signs of allergic
reactions or rash, immediately stop
using the device. Use the device
with caution).

How to mount the device
1. Attach two patches to
the bottom of the
product with the metal
snap buttons. Make
sure both patches are
securely connected to
the product.
2. Remove the protective
plastic lm from
both patches.
3. Mount the device on the
body as indicated in the
gure. Attach the device
to the skin over the
muscle on the side you
have most pain. For
most people
this is the dominant side
(Right for right-handers
and left for left-handers).
Place the product with
the USB connector
pointing downwards
towards the arm. If you

wish to measure
on both sides
simultaneously,
we recommend that you
use one extra device.
Let the device be on
your body for the
time period you
want biofeedback.

How to unmount your device
1. Loosen the unit from the
body by gently pulling
the patches up from the
skin. If the patches
have lost much of their
adhesive effect, they
can be washed in water
without soap. NB!
Remember to take
patches off the EXPAIN
Change Neck &
Shoulders device before
you wash. The unit
is not waterproof.
2. Recharge the unit
to ensure that
it is fully charged for the
next use.
Place the device
back in the travel case
after use for
safe storage.

Usage
EXPAIN Change Neck & Shoulders
is turned on by pressing the button
on top of the unit.
When using the device, it will vibrate
when it recognizes strained
muscle activity patterns. Read more
in the section of Biofeedback
and habits.

Usage with app
You can get more from the EXPAIN
Change Neck & Shoulders device if
you connect it to a smartphone.
The unit will then automatically
transfer data to your smartphone
when it is within reach and you can
follow the historical development in
your app. You can, for example do
ergonomic changes by looking at
your muscle activity.
