1. Product presentation
ELSTEAM immersed electrode humidifier is a fully automatic device for the production of steam.

2. Safety measures
MANDATORY SAFETY RULES TO FOR INSTALLERS AND USERS
The installer is absolutely obliged to read the installation manual of this appliance completely and
scrupulously: ELSTEAM Srl declines all responsibility for damage to third parties or to the product
itself resulting from the failure or partial application of the rules contained therein.

1.1 Ground Connection
The first operation of each installation is the correct ground connection for the equipment,
following the safety regulations of the state and at the time when the equipment is installed.
1.2 Thermo-hygrometric conditions of the installation
Check that the environmental conditions of the place where the installation is carried out are
always compatible with the requirements of the product as indicated in this manual. ELSTEAM
products cannot be installed exposed to weather conditions or frost, unless different conditions
explicitly expressed in countersigned documents.
1.3 Electrical Connections
ELSTEAM equipment must be connected to the power supply by carefully following the local
regulations and the specifications on the plates of the equipment.
In particular, it is mandatory that the power supply lines have a correct section and are equipped
with a standard disconnecting switch with differential safety (life-saving device) capable of
protecting the user not only against the device, but also against the power lines installed.
1.4 Hydraulic Connections
It is necessary to strictly comply with the local actives regulations (for installation) and make sure
that any breakages or water leaks deriving from the installation or from the units itself cannot
cause damage to the environment or to third parties. Do not install the equipment on passageways
or over dangerous or susceptible objects and always provide special drainage systems that can
evacuate any spilled water correctly.
1.5 Steam distribution
ELSTEAM humidifiers emit steam. When installing steam distribution network, carefully follow
directives provided in the concerned section of the user manual. The installer must verify that any
failure of the distribution network cannot cause damage to people or property.
1.6 Mandatory procedure for switching off the humidifier for long periods
The new VDI 6022 standard requires the user to make sure that there are no water deposits in the
system that are not used for long periods.
If the humidifier is switched off simply by switching the power switch (red button on front panel),
there may be a deposit of water in the kettle.
To overcome this inconvenience, in the event of an expected long shutdown of the humidifier (for
example for the summer season, it is necessary to proceed by following the procedure:
Set to zero the request signal
Turn OFF the humidifier (using the red button on front panel)
Turn ON the humidifier (using the red button on front panel)
Wait for the kettle to empty completely
Check that no red signals remain on
Proceed to turn OFF the power switch.
1.7 Drain connection
ELSTEAM appliances must be able to discharge water with any limescale deposits or evaporation
residues.

The drainage network must comply with local regulations and the provisions of the manual
attached to the machine. It is also necessary to ensure that any residual water or condensate
cannot remain in contact with the environment and are removed correctly, following the VDI 6022
regulations.
1.8 Waste Disposal
Directive 2002/96 / EC of the European Parliament and the related national regulations impose the
obligation not to dispose of WEEE as urban civil waste, but to prepare a special collection for
outdated parts of the humidifier.
The purchaser has the right to return the disused humidifier to ELSTEAM srl in case of purchase of
an equivalent humidifier. ELSTEAM will arrange for its own disposal or through its appointees.
The disposal of electrical or electronic components in an abusive manner and not in compliance
with current regulations involves penalties.
1.9 Warranty
ELSTEAM Srl recognizes on its products the legal guarantees in force at the time of sale of the
product. Incorrect use and lack of maintenance entail the automatic forfeiture of any form of
guarantee.

1.10 Humidifier positioning
The humidifier is supplied with a reinforced rubber connection section with connections and
gaskets for connection to the water supply and an Allen key for opening both the closing covers of
the electrical housing and the hydraulic unit of the machine.
The Allen key is housed in the lower right recess of the electrical part cover. See fig. C. It is a good
idea to store it after each use

The opening of the lids consists in loosening the Allen screw which keeps each lid locked to the
machine in its lower edge and in the subsequent removal of the lid with a prior lifting of it by a few
millimetres.
Each cover must be connected to the machine ground.
The humidifier must be fixed to a vertical support (wall or bracket) capable of supporting a weight
of at least 50 kg. humidifier. (see fig. A)
In the upper part of the humidifier is placed
• The steam outlet
• 3/4 inch water loading connection. This connection is already equipped with a mechanical filter and must
therefore be easily inspected
• The rubber grommet for connecting the adjustments: humidistat, consents and any additional controls
and safety devices
In the lower part there are instead:
• The water drain to be connected to the sewer evacuation
• The cable gland for the electrical cables of the power supply
• Water drainage due to any leaks. The opening of the lids consists in loosening the Allen screw, which

1.11 Water supply connections
Feed water must come to the humidifier from water mains through an intercept tap of a 1/2”
minimum diameter. If more humidifiers are connected to the same mains, the pipe diameter has to
be proportionally increased.
If the water quality is poor, add a secondary mechanical filter to the solenoid one of the machine.
The filters must be regularly cleaned - mainly in, the first working period, and with new plumbing -
. To avoid problems, use the Elsteam flexible piping, supplied with a 3/4” connection already
mounted.
WARNING: Do not feed demineralized water into humidifier!
Supply water need not be potable, but it should not contain physical particles such as sand, mud,
algae, etc. which could interfere with the operation of the water supply valve. If the water supply
system includes a softener composed by resins cartridges, the stainless steel electrodes in the
boiler could be corroded in a short time (if this happens, the boiler will not be covered by the 2
years guarantee).
Water pressure must be kept between 2 and 7 bars. The machine works regularly with feed water
having conductivity between, 800 and 8000 (ohm - cm), but it could also work using water with
different characteristics, giving, however, less performances. With acid water, you should check
for an unusual corrosion, of the electrodes.
If the feed piping is new, before connecting the humidifier solenoid, drain the water for a few
minutes, removing all the waste matter. Intake water temperature must not exceed 50°C.
The electronic controls of the humidifier stop automatically income water in case of leakage inside
the cabinet; however, it will be useful to inspect, every year, all the hydraulic components to avoid
any damage.
1.12 Steam pipe connections
Elsteam humidifiers include a linear stainless steel steam distributor for efficient humidification of
the units inside air and a plastic flange with rubber “o-ring”. The steam distributor must be installed
with the steam holes on the top and far from possible obstructions of the air ducts (curves, forks,
changes in piping section size, fans, filters, grids, etc.).
The distance between steam distributor and obstruction has to be kept more than 600 mm in the
direction of airflow.
Steam distributors should not be installed close to cooling batteries or humidity regulation probes
and away from the external air input. Put the distributor in the lowest side of air duct: a minimum

distance of 300 mm between the top of the steam output and the air duct ceiling must be observed
to avoid condensation on the ceiling itself.
Install a condensation tank with an output pipe - 50 cm. away from the steam distributor - at the
bottom of the air duct which is involved in the first steam injection, to avoid damaging of the air
duct due to humidistat or air fan breakdowns.
To recover from steam recondensing in the distributor and in the steam pipes, the distributor itself
must be installed above the steam output of the humidifier. The steam distributor in the air duct
must be slightly tilted (2°); you could automatically obtain this result mounting the Elsteam flange
with the little swelling (see draw) at the bottom.
Elsteam humidifiers are suitable for connection to air piping with a pressure of 100 m H20. If the
dynamic air pressure is higher, the performance of the Elsteam machine decreases. When the
pressure is more than 200mm H20, the humidifier drains all the water, stops to produce steam and
it goes on alarm mode.
Piping between the humidifier and the steam distributor must be installed to avoid condensation
which leads to gurgling in the room or in the air duct with a loss of efficiency; if the condensate
stops the steam pipe completely, the humidifier drains all the water from the steam cylinder and it
starts working again.
Piping must use the gravity force to drain the recondensed steam towards the boiler:
- avoid use of pipe size less than 40 mm inside diameter
- avoid sharp bends - curve diameter must not be less than 300 mm
- avoid to siphon the pipe, leading to condensation points
- obtain - if possible - an unifrom minimum gradient (10%) towards the humidifier, to
bring recondensed steam back towards the boiler
- use steam tubing and fittings suitable for temperature up to 120° C at atmo-sphere
pressure and thermally insulated
- the piping has to be supported by brackets mounted every 50 cm or contained in
plastic shaft.
Elsteam humidifiers don't need a separate condensation discharge tube.
If the humidifier steam output position is above the steam distributor in the air duct, 2 solutions
are suitable:
