1 For your safety
1.1 General safety statements
Carefully read these Instructions for Use and those of the full
face mask used before using the product.
Strictly follow the Instructions for Use. The user must fully
understand and strictly observe the instructions. Use the
product only for the purposes specified in the Intended use
section of this document.
Do not dispose of the Instructions for Use. Ensure that they are
retained and appropriately used by the product user.
Electrical connections to devices which are not listed in these
Instructions for Use should only be made following
consultation with the respective manufacturers or an expert.
Devices and components which will be used in areas prone to
explosions and are inspected and approved in accordance
with national, European or international regulations may only
be used under the conditions stated in the approval and under
consideration of the corresponding legal regulations.
Only fully trained and competent users are permitted to use
this product.
Follow the local and national guidelines pertaining to this
product.
The product is maintenance-free.
Use only original Dräger parts and accessories, otherwise the
product may not function correctly.
Do not use faulty or incomplete products. Do not make any
changes to the product.
Notify Dräger in the event of any fault or failure in the product
or product component.

1.2 Definitions of alert icons
The following alert icons are used in this document to provide and
highlight areas of the associated text that require a greater
awareness by the user. A definition of the meaning of each icon is
as follows:
2 Description
The Dräger MS-COM communication system is available in
different versions. These versions vary in terms of the cable with
which the communication system is connected to the radio.
The communication system consists of microphone/earpiece unit,
assembly kit and COM control unit.
3 Intended use
The communication system can be attached to the Dräger full face
masks FPS 7000 and Panorama Nova. It is connected to a radio
and improves the speech communications.
4Approvals
In combinations with the Dräger full face masks FPS 7000 and
Panorama Nova, the communication system is approved in
accordance with EN 136 class 3.
It meets the requirement of the regulations EN 301 489-1 and
EN 301 489-5 for electromagnetic compatibility.
The communication system can be used in areas prone to
explosions. It is classified in accordance with 94/9/EC as follows:
Ex ib IIC T4.
CAUTION
Indicates a potentially hazardous situation. If not avoided,
injuries or damage to the product or environment can
occur. It may also be used to alert against unsafe
practices.
NOTICE
Indicates additional information on how to use the product.
NOTICE
Radios offer different audio qualities. It must be inspected
whether the respective radio used in combination with the
communication system ensures interference-free radio
usage.

5 Parts required for assembly

6 Assembly
1. Check whether the assembly kit corresponds to the full face
mask used and whether the COM control unit corresponds to
the radio used.
2. Attach the holder of the assembly kit to the left side of the full
face mask1).
3. Remove the old cap from the full face mask.
4. Insert the microphone/earpiece unit into the holder.
Press and hold the quick-release button until the microphone/
earpiece unit is correctly oriented.
5. Insert microphone into the cap and place the cap on the full
face mask.
In doing so, guide the cable around the connection piece of the
full face mask as follows:
NOTICE
During assembly, the corresponding cap which can be
inserted into the microphone is also required
(see chapter 11 on page 7).
NOTICE
The COM control unit is not part of the scope of delivery of
the communication system.

6. Connect the communications unit with quick-release
connector to the COM control unit.
7. Attach belt clip to the COM control unit or
affix Velcro to a suitable place on the radio.
CAUTION
Always check the leak tightness of the full face mask
before use. Follow the corresponding the Instructions for
Use.

7Use
1. Ensure that the battery of the radio is fully charged.
2. Connect the cable of the COM control unit to the radio.
3. Fasten the full face mask.
4. Turn on the radio.
5. Check the radio connection. Press the PTT button to do so.
6. Adjust the volume of the earpiece using the volume regulator
of the radio. Dräger recommends marking the position of the
volume regulator on the radio.
7. When using the COM control belt clip, make sure that the COM
control unit is attached in such a manner that the PTT button
can be easily operated.
If Velcro is used, attach the COM control unit to the radio and
put the radio in the radio pocket.
8 Cleaning
1. In order to avoid injuries, remove the communication system
from the full face mask and place the protective cap on the
holder.
2. Clean the communication system with a damp sponge or a
brush and water with all-purpose cleaner.
3. Clean the plug-in connections with high-quality Vaseline spray
or a similar lubricant.
9Storage
Storage temperature: -15 °C to +25 °C
Store protected against direct sunlight and heat.
CAUTION
If a full face mask with assembled holder without a
communication system is to be used, place the protective
cap on the holder. Otherwise there is risk of injury.
CAUTION
Do not use solvents such as acetone, alcohol, etc. for
cleaning the communication system.
Clean the communication system carefully to avoid
damaging the microphone or earpiece.

1 Zu Ihrer Sicherheit
1.1 Allgemeine Sicherheitshinweise
Vor Gebrauch des Produkts diese Gebrauchsanweisung und
die Gebrauchsanweisung der verwendeten Vollmaske
aufmerksam lesen.
Gebrauchsanweisung genau beachten. Der Anwender muss
die Anweisungen vollständig verstehen und den Anweisungen
genau Folge leisten. Das Produkt darf nur entsprechend dem
Verwendungszweck verwendet werden.
Gebrauchsanweisung nicht entsorgen. Aufbewahrung und
ordnungsgemäße Verwendung durch die Nutzer sicherstellen.
Elektrische Kopplung mit Geräten, die nicht in dieser
Gebrauchsanweisung erwähnt sind, nur nach Rückfrage bei
den Herstellern oder einem Fachmann vornehmen.
Geräte und Komponenten, die in explosionsgefährdeten
Bereichen eingesetzt werden und gemäß nationaler,
europäischer oder internationaler Vorschriften überprüft und
zugelassen wurden, dürfen nur unter den in der Zulassung
angegebenen Bedingungen und unter Beachtung der
maßgeblichen gesetzlichen Vorschriften verwendet werden.
Nur entsprechend geschultes und fachkundiges Personal darf
dieses Produkt verwenden.
Lokale und nationale Richtlinien, die dieses Produkt betreffen,
befolgen.
Das Produkt ist wartungsfrei.
Nur Original-Dräger-Teile und -Zubehör verwenden. Sonst
könnte die korrekte Funktion des Produkts beeinträchtigt
werden.
Fehlerhafte oder unvollständige Produkte nicht verwenden.
Keine Änderungen am Produkt vornehmen.
Dräger bei Fehlern oder Ausfällen vom Produkt oder von

1.2 Bedeutung der Warnzeichen
Die folgenden Warnzeichen werden in diesem Dokument verwen-
det, um die zugehörigen Warntexte zu kennzeichnen und hervor-
zuheben, die eine erhöhte Aufmerksamkeit seitens des
Anwenders erfordern. Die Bedeutungen der Warnzeichen sind wie
folgt definiert:
2 Beschreibung
Das Kommunikationssystem Dräger MS-COM ist in verschiede-
nen Versionen erhältlich. Diese Versionen unterscheiden sich
durch die Kabel, mit denen das Kommunikationssystem an das
Funkgerät angeschlossen wird.
Das Kommunikationssystem besteht aus Mikrofon/Ohrhörer-
Einheit, Montagekit und COM-Control-Einheit.
3 Verwendungszweck
Das Kommunikationssystem kann an den Dräger Vollmasken
FPS 7000 und Panorama Nova angebracht werden. Es wird an ein
Funkgerät angeschlossen und verbessert dadurch die Sprach-
kommunikation.
4 Zulassungen
In Kombination mit den Dräger Vollmasken FPS 7000 und Panora-
ma Nova ist das Kommunikationssystem nach EN 136 Kl. 3 zuge-
lassen.
Es erfüllt die Anforderungen der Richtlinien EN 301 489-1 und
EN 301 489-5 zur elektromagnetischen Verträglichkeit.
Das Kommunikationssystem kann in explosionsgefährdeten Berei-
chen eingesetzt werden. Es ist gemäß 94/9/EG folgendermaßen
klassifiziert: Ex ib IIC T4.
VORSICHT
Hinweis auf eine potenzielle Gefahrensituation. Wenn die-
se nicht vermieden wird, können Verletzungen oder Schä-
digungen am Produkt oder der Umwelt eintreten. Kann
auch als Warnung vor unsachgemäßem Gebrauch ver-
wendet werden.

Zusätzliche Information zum Einsatz des Produkts.
HINWEIS
Funkgeräte bieten unterschiedliche Audioqualitäten. Es
muss geprüft werden, ob das jeweils verwendete Funkge-
rät in Kombination mit dem Kommunikationssystem stö-
rungsfreien Einsatzfunk gewährleistet.

5 Zur Montage benötigte Teile

6 Montage
1. Überprüfen, ob das Montagekit der verwendeten Vollmaske
und die COM-Control-Einheit dem verwendeten Funkgerät
entspricht.
2. Den Halter des Montagekits auf der linken Seite der Vollmaske
anbringen1).
3. Alte Kappe von der Vollmaske nehmen.
4. Mikrofon/Ohrhörer-Einheit auf den Halter stecken.
Schnelltrennknopf drücken, bis die Mikrofon/Ohrhörer-Einheit
korrekt ausgerichtet ist.
5. Mikrofon in die neue Kappe einsetzen und die Kappe auf die
Vollmaske setzen.
Dabei das Kabel folgendermaßen um das Anschlussstück der
Vollmaske führen:
HINWEIS
Bei der Montage wird außerdem die entsprechende Kap-
pe benötigt, in die das Mikrofon eingesteckt werden kann
(siehe Kap. 11 auf Seite 13).
HINWEIS
Die COM-Control-Einheit ist nicht Bestandteil des Liefer-
umfangs des Kommunikationssystems.
