General
This User’s Manual (hereinafter referred to as "the Manual") introduces the functions and operations
of the EVS series (hereinafter referred to as "the Device").

Important Safeguards and Warnings
This section introduces content covering the proper handling of the Device, hazard prevention, and
prevention of property damage. Read carefully before using the Device, comply with the guidelines
when using it, and keep the manual safe for future reference.
Operation Requirement
Transport, use and store the Device under allowed humidity and temperature conditions.
Prevent liquids from splashing or dripping on the Device. Make sure that there are no objects
filled with liquids on top to avoid liquids flowing into the Device.
Do not disassemble the Device.
Only use the Device within the rated power range.
Make sure that the power supply of the Device works properly before use.
Do not pull out the power cable of the Device while it is powered on.
The appliance coupler is a disconnection device. Keep a convenient angle when using it.
Do not insert or take out the expansion drawer without power off first.
Installation Requirements
Keep the Device installed horizontally on the stable place to prevent it from falling.
Observe all safety procedures and wear required protective equipment provided for your use
while working at height.
Do not expose the Device to direct sunlight or heat source.
Do not install the Device in humid, dusty or smoky places.
Install the Device in a well-ventilated place, and do not block the ventilator of the Device.
Strictly abide by local electrical safety standards, and make sure that the voltage in the area is
steady and conforms to power requirements of the Device.
Use the recommended power cables in the region and conform to the rated power specification.
Use the power adapter or case power supply provided by the Device manufacturer.
Connect the Device with the adapter before power on.
Do not connect the Device to more than one power supply. Otherwise, the Device might be
damaged.
The power supply must conform to the requirements of ES1 in IEC 62368-1 standard and no
higher than PS2. Note that power supply requirements are subject to the Device label.
Connect the class I electrical appliance to a power socket with protective earthing.
Maintenance Requirements
Improper battery use might result in fire, explosion, or inflammation.
When replacing battery, make sure that the same model is used.

1Overview
Introduction
The Device is designed for the management, storage and application of high-definition video data. It
uses Linux operation system and professional customized hardware platform, and it is configured with
multiple Hard Disk Drive (HDD) management system, front-end HD device management system, HD
video analysis system and large capacity video storage system.
It adopts high-traffic data network transmission & forward technology and multi-channel video
decoding & display technology, and realizes intelligent management, secure storage, fast forwarding
and HD decoding of large capacity and multi-channel HD video data.
The Device provides standard network file sharing service and offers integrated IP SAN/NAS solution.
It provides centralized storage solutions with large capacity, high scalability and high security for all
kinds of video monitoring systems.
The contents below are introduced in the example of middle-class 24-HDD single-controller.
Functions of other series are similar. Refer to the actual devices when necessary.

1 Power button
Turns on or off the device. This button keeps blue light on when
the device is power on.
If the device is off, press this button to turn the device on.
To turn off the Device, press and hold this button for five
seconds.
2 HDD status
indicator
The light is out when the HDD is in normal operation.
The blue light keeps on if no HDD, HDD error or insufficient
HDD space.
3 Alarm status
indicator
The light is out when the device is in normal operation.
The red light keeps on when the power fails or the
temperature/fan is abnormal.

2Installation and Power Up
Installing HDD
The HDD is not installed by default on factory delivery. You need to install it by yourself.
WARNING
Some devices are heavy and should be carried jointly by several persons to avoid any personnel
injury.
2.1.1 Middle-class 16-HDD Single-controller Series
Press the red button on the HDD box in the front panel and unlock the handle. See Figure 2-
1.

Pull out to take the empty HDD box. See Figure 2-2.

Put the HDD into the disk box and fasten the screws on both sides of the box. See Figure 2-3.

Fastening the screws
To avoid any damage to the slot, do not close the handle if the HDD box has not been pushed
to the bottom.
Insert the HDD box into the HDD slot, push it to the bottom, and then lock the handle.
2.1.2 Other Series
Press the red button on the HDD box in the front panel and unlock the handle. See Figure 2-
4.
