2 Controls
1.2 Short description
The EcoPUC MC (hereafter called “Control
system") is a control system with control compo-
nents for electrical pumps. Pumping pressure and
speed of the electric pumps are regulated via the
control system.
2 Safety
2.1 Presentation of Notes
The following notes can appear in this instructions
manual.
DANGER!
High risk situation that can lead to serious inju-
ries or death.
WARNING!
Medium risk situation that can lead to serious
injuries or death.
CAUTION!
Low risk situations that can lead to minor inju-
ries.
NOTICE!
Situations that can lead to material damage.
ENVIRONMENT!
Situations that can lead to environmental
damage.
Contains additional information and rec-
ommendations.
2.2 Intended Use
Use
The control system is intended for actuation of
pumps, which deliver fluid coating materials. The
fluid coating materials can be flammable or non-
flammable.
The control system is designed for use in sta-
tionery location paint systems.
Product overview
05/2017EcoPUC MC - MCU00003EN6/68

The following norms are applicable based on the
used coating material:
EN 12215:2010 "Coating plants - Spray booths
for application of organic liquid coating mate-
rials - Safety requirements”.
Non-inflammable coating materials:
EN 50348:2010 "Stationary electrostatic
application equipment for non-ignitable liquid
coating materials - Safety requirements."
The control system is only intended for industrial
use.
Set up the control system only outside the explo-
sive area.
The control system actuates electrical, electro-
pneumatic and pneumatic components.
Dual piston pump with installed explosion pro-
tected asynchronous motor
Explosion-protected pressure sensor and max-
imum pressure governor
Downstream pneumatic paint pressure regu-
lator
Note technical data of the interfaces Ä 11.8
“Interfaces”.
The control system is an incomplete machine. The
control system is designed for installing in a
mechanical system.
The control system must be combined with addi-
tional signals from safety-related parts of the con-
trol systems, to correspond to European, interna-
tional and country-specific specifications on
machine safety and explosion protection.
The control system consists of a main cabinet and
can be extended by a maximum of three extension
cabinets. An additional pump can be operated for
each extension cabinet.
Only use the control system within the approved
technical data Ä 11 “Technical data”.
Mount the control system on the wall or on a base
using the provided holes in the control system
Ä 5.2 “Assembly”.
Wrong use
Improper use of the control system can entail risk
of death. Adhere to the following conditions:
Do not attempt to make conversions or changes
on your own.
Do not use the control system in explosive
areas.
Do not set up control system under lines car-
rying material.
Do not exceed the maximum hose lengths and
cable lengths Ä 11.2 “Connections”.
Do not place any objects near the control
system. This is valid for electrostatically charge-
able objects.
2.3 Safety devices
The operator must implement the following safety
devices:
Emergency Stop design (Performance Level d
with category 3 according to EN ISO 13849-1)
Fire safety with extinguisher device and fire
detection system
Fire protection valve for interrupting air supply
system in the event of a fire
Mechanical ventilation (according to EN 12215
and country-specific operating specifications)
Follow the circuit diagram Ä “Applicable
documents”.
2.4 Safety signs
Danger due to electrical voltage is present in the
control system housing.
The following signs are placed on the product.
Do not remove signs from the product.
Replace illegible characters.
Safety signs Meaning
Risk of death due to electrical
voltage exists despite switched
off main switch.

2.5 Residual risks
Grounding
Touching electrically live control system compo-
nents can cause serious injuries or even death.
Connect grounding cable to the control system.
Check ground cable. Observe the maintenance
intervals.
Electric current
Components can have electrical voltage on them.
Touching them can cause serious injury or death.
Before carrying out any work:
Cut off power supply to components.
Verify no current is present.
Secure against reconnection.
Compressed air
If compressed air escapes with high pressure, it
can cause death or serious injury.
Before working on the product:
Disconnect the system with the product from
compressed air.
Secure the system against being switched on
again.
Relieve the lines.
Bleed the product.
Danger from harmful or irritant substances
Contact with hazardous liquids or vapors, can
result in serious injury or death.
Ensure that the forced ventilation is operational.
Observe the safety data sheets.
Wear specified protective equipment.
2.6 Conduct in the event of a hazardous
situation
Conduct in case of danger depends on the oper-
ator’s installation situation.
Basically:
Shut down the power supply.
Discharge the residual energy.
Verify no current is present.
Secure against reconnection.
Close material supply lines.
Relieve the pressure on material lines.
Secure against reconnection.
Emergency shutdown
