Fundamental safety warnings

Danger of electric shock!

This is an electrical appliance and may cause electric shock.

You should therefore respect the following safety warnings:

• Nevertouchtheappliancewithdamphands.

cesinordertoavoidallrisk.

• Beforecleaningorservicing,disconnect theappliance

byunpluggingfromthemains.

• Before using the appliance, check that the mains

supply voltage corresponds to the voltage indica-

ted on the rating plate. Connect the appliance to

an eciently earthed power supply and sockets

with a minimum current rating of 10 A only.

“Safe transport”: certain models are tted with a

locking system which locks the iron in position during

transport. When the iron is locked in position, it

must not be used as a carrying handle to transport

the appliance! Topositiontheironcorrectly,insertthe

tip of the soleplate into the housing, rest the iron on

theironrestandmovethelocktothelockingposition

(g.1).

 Toreleasetheiron,movethelocktothereleaseposition

andremovetheironfromthehousing(g.2).

• Whileironing,youcanrestthetipofthesoleplateonthe

heatresistantbaseabovethehousing.

Theappliancemustbeusedandrestedon

astableheatresistantsurface.

Whenplacingtheirononitsstand,ensure

that the surface on which the stand is pla-

cedisstable.

• NEVER store the iron in a vertical position!

The appliance is not to be used if it has

beendropped,iftherearevisiblesignsof

damage or if it is leaking. Iftheironingsystem

isdroppedcausingvisibledamagetotheappliance(steam

generatororiron),donotuse.Taketocustomerservices.

considered improper and thus dangerous.

Preparations for use

What water to use

The appliance works with normal tap water.

Important!

Neverusechemicalsubstancesordetergents(e.g.perfumed

water,essences,descalingsolution,etc).

Donotusemineralorothertypesofwater(suchasrainwater

orwaterforbatteriesorairconditionersetc.).

Setting water hardness

This ironing system has a resin limescale lter installed in the

waterreservoir,allowingyoutouseordinarytapwater.

Theresinsreducewaterhardness,prolongingtheworkinglife

of the appliance.

Theltermustbereplacedwhenthe light on the ap-

pliance control panel comes on. To customise the warning

accordingtothewaterused,proceedasfollows:

• check the hardness of your water using the indicator

paper Jprovided:

• dipthepaperinthewaterfor1second,

• shaketoremoveexcesswater;

• waitfor1minute;

• checktheresultinthetableanduseacointoturnthe

water hardness regulator Qto the position correspon-

ding to your water hardness:

0 - 9 °F

10 - 18 °F

19 - 36 °F

36 °F

Filling the reservoir

Danger!

Makesurethepowercableisunpluggedfromthemainsso-

cket.

Danger!

Make sure the removable reservoir is rmly in place.

Ifthereservoirisnotfullyinserted,watermayleakfromthe

appliance.

• Plugtheapplianceintoamainssocket.

Please note:

Thersttimeyouusetheappliance,thesteamgeneratoris

empty.

Whenllingthesteamgeneratorforthersttime,itwilltake

longertoheatupastheairmustbeeliminatedfromtheste-

amgeneratorandreplacedbythewater.

Duringlling/heatingitisnormalforthepumptomakea

noise.

The appliance will also run out of water much more quickly

thanwithsubsequentlls.

Steam ironing

• TurntheapplianceonbyrotatingthedialRto one of the

steam positions. The sector corresponding to the steam

selectedashes.Waituntilitremainsonsteadily(steam

ready) and light Sgoes out.

• PressthesteambuttonTunder the handle to proceed.

Please note:

• Whenusedforthersttime,theappliancemaygiveo

smokeandanodourforseveralminutes.Thisiscaused

byheatingandsubsequentdryingofthesealersused

in assembling the steam generator and iron.You are

recommendedtoventilatetheroom.

• ThelightSgoes on and o during ironing according to the

temperature of the iron.

This is part of normal operation and not a cause for concern.

• Whileironing,itisnormaltohearthewaterllpumpcome

onandgoo.

 Thisiscausedbytransferofwaterfromthereservoirtothe

steam generator.

 Itispartofnormaloperationandisnotacauseforconcern.

• Eachtimetheironisused(includingforthersttime)orif

youhavenotusedsteamforseveralminutes,pressthesteam

deliverybuttonanumberoftimesawayfromtheironingbo-

ard.This will eliminate condensation from the steam circuit.

Adjusting the iron thermostat (U)

Turnthethermostatdialtosetthemostsuitabletemperatu-

reforthetypeoffabrictobeironed.

For steam ironing, the temperature

mustbewithinthesteamsectorshown

alongside.

Steam regulator

The steam regulator dial Renables thequantity ofsteam

tobeincreasedordecreasedaccordingtothefabricbeing

ironed.

andwatersavings.

3. Idealfortopqualityironingwithenergyandwatersa-

vings.

4. Idealfordicult-to-irongarmentsorcreases.

Whenyouturntheironon,youarerecommendedtoturn

thesteamregulatordialtothemaximumsteamposition.

Topping up the water in the reservoir

Whenthe waterruns out,the : light comes on. The

steam light goes o to indicate that the appliance can no

longer produce steam.

Whenthislightcomeson,proceedasdescribedinthesec-

tion“Fillingthereservoir”andconrmllingbypressingthe

OKbutton(O).

Dry ironing

Todryiron,turnthethermostatdialontheirontoselectthe

temperaturemostsuitable forthe garmentstobeironed,

thenironwithoutpressingthesteambutton.

Maintenance

Replacing the limescale lter

When the lightcomeson,theltermustbereplaced.

Toregeneratethelter,proceedasfollows:

• Makesuretheapplianceisturnedo,unpluggedfrom

the mains and completely cold.

• Press the reservoir release lever (C) and remove the

water reservoir.

• PlacetheleverFin the position(g.6)andremove

thelimescalelter(g.7).

• PositionthenewlterandplacetheleverF in the

position. Then reattach the tank.

• Plugtheapplianceintothemainsandturnon.

• Holdthe OKbutton(O) down for at least 5 seconds to

conrmtheeciencyofthelter.The light goes

o.

• Theapplianceisreadyforuse.

Please note:

Limescaleltersareavailablefromauthorisedcustomerser-

vices.

Rinsing the steam generator

Tooptimiseoperation,maintainconstantsteamproduction

overtimeandsaveenergy,rinsethesteamgeneratorwith

waterafterevery10ironingsessions.Proceedasfollows:

• Makesuretheapplianceisturnedo,unpluggedfrom

the mains and completely cold.

• Removethewaterreservoir.

• Turntheprotectivecap G on the side of the appliance

clockwiseandremove(g.9).

• Useacoinorscrewdrivertounscrewthesteamgenera-

torcap(g.10).

• Eliminatethewaterinthesteamgenerator(g.11);

• Resttheapplianceonitsside(g.12)andllwithama-

ximumof0.7litresofwaterusingafunneltoavoidthe

water spilling outside the steam generator.

• Shaketheappliancetorinsetheentiresteamgenerator,

then throw the water away.

• Repeattherinseprocedure.

• Screwthecapbackon,makingsureitclosesthesteam

generatoreciently.

• ReplacetheprotectivecapG.

 Beforeresumingironing,dischargesteamintotheairfor

a few seconds to completely eliminate any residues from

the internal circuits.

Important!

The appliance will not function without the limescale

lter.

If the lter cannot be replaced and you want to continue

usingtheappliancewithoutanecientlimescalelter,pro-

ceed as follows:

• UseacointoturnthewaterhardnessregulatorOto po-

sition 4correspondingtoveryhardwater(irrespective

oftheresultsobtainedusingtheindicatorpaper).

• Whenthe ,lightcomeson,rinsethesteamgene-

ratorasdescribedabove.

• After rinsing, hold the OK button down for at least 5

seconds.

Cleaning

• Thesurfaceofthesoleplatemustbekeptclean.Toclean,

just wipe the cold surface with a damp cloth.

• Theironmustneverbetreatedwithdescalingproducts.

After ironing

After nishing ironing, you should put the ironing system

awaywiththedoortightlyclosedtoavoiddustandforeign

bodies falling into the reservoir and possibly jeopardising

operationofthepump.Placetheironontheironrestinthe

securedpositionandwaitforthesystemtocooldownbefo-

reputtingitaway.Toputtheapplianceawaytidily,xthe

steam/cabletubetothehookGandwindthepowercable

aroundthecabletidyI. Store the iron in a dry place.

Please note:

• Afterironing,thewaterremaininginthereservoirneed

not be drained. However, you are recommended to

drain the water if the appliance is left unused for long

periods.

Disposal

In compliance with European directive 2002/96/EC,

theappliancemustnotbedisposedofwithhousehold

waste,but takentoan authorisedwasteseparation

and recycling centre.

PROBLEM CAUSE SOLUTION

The appliance does not come on. The appliance is not plugged into a mains

socket.

Make sure the appliance is correctly connected

and press the iron and steam generator ON

buttons.

Steamleaksfromthereservoir. The maximum pressure safety system has

tripped.

Turn the appliance o immediately and con-

tactthemanufacturer’scustomerservices.

Waterleaksfromtheholesinthebottomof

the soleplate.

Waterhascondensedinsidethetubesbecause

steamisbeingusedforthersttime,orhas

notbeenusedforsometime.

Press the steam button several times away

fromtheironingboard.Thiswilleliminatecold

water from the steam circuit.

The ironing system is positioned on an unsta-

bleand/orslopingsurface.

Theironmustbeusedandrestedonastable

surface.

Browncoloureduidleaksfromthe

soleplate.

Chemical water softeners or additives have

beenpouredintothewaterreservoirorsteam

generator.

Neverpourproducts into the waterreservoir

(see our tips in the quick guide). Clean the

soleplate with a damp cloth.

Thersttimetheapplianceisturnedon,you

notice smoke

Some parts have been treated with sealer/

lubricantwhichevaporatesthe rst time the

iron heats up.

This is normal and will stop when you have

used the iron a few times.

The appliance emits an intermittent noise

associatedwithvibrations.

Waterisbeingpumpedintothesteamgene-

rator.

This is completely normal.

The appliance emits a continuous noise

associatedwithvibrations.

Unplugthesystemfromthemainsandcontact

themanufacturer’scustomerservices.
