Installation Instructions

MT21-10 Swing Set

Required Crew: 2 Required

Concrete: 11-12, 80 lb. bags

Required Tools:

● Wheelbarrow

● Step Ladder (6’ or taller)

● Shovel

● Tape Measure

● Digging Bar or Pick

● Level

● Allen Wrench (Provided)

● Open end or Box Wrenches: 9/16”, ¾”

● Hammer or Mallet

● Ratchet Handle & Sockets: 9/16”, ¾”

● Marker Pen

● Drill: Cordless or electric, or impact driver

Component Playgrounds is concerned about the safety of your vision. It

is important that you choose to protect your vision by wearing proper

safety glasses during each and every phase of this construction

process.

PLEASE READ AND UNDERSTAND ALL INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE BEGINNING

The MT21-10 can be installed as a one day project. The normal time

required to install the MT21-10 is about 2-4 hours for a two man crew. This

time requirement will vary dependent upon the composition of the soil and

the speed of the installers. Mix and pour the concrete as the last step.

*Before digging, please obey local laws by notifying your local

underground utilities marking organization*

Installation Instructions

1. Select an area in your yard that is reasonably level and meets the space

requirement for your equipment. Ground Space: 18’ x 12’. Play Space: 22’

x 24’.

2. Please refer to the top rail assembly sheet and assemble your top rail as

instructed.

3. Position the top rail (see top rail Assembly page) about 12’ from the

selected spot where you want the unit to finally stand. Using a tape

measure and marker, mark location of the swing hangers and the ladder

along the top rail. (see top view on assembly and installation instructions or

measurements)

4. Assemble swing hangers (see swing hanger assembly sheet) and attach

securely to the top rail.

5. Using the hammer, install the plug into the open end of the top rail.

6. Locate position in your yard where the upright ladder will stand. Dig the

hole for the ladder (see installation instructions page #1). Lay the ladder

onto the ground with the bottom of the ladder laying just over the hole

where it will finally stand. Hint: Be sure to situate the ladder so that when

the unit is finally standing the rungs and the third leg bolt will be facing as

desired in your space.

7. Turn the top rail onto its side on the ground. Slide the top rail into the

sleeve at the top of the ladder and position it to the marks previously made.

(see Installation Instructions page #3). Loosely install set screws into the

top of the ladder sleeve. Bolt “A” frame legs into place. (see installation

instructions page #2)

8. Using two strong adults, stand the swing frame up, allowing the ladder to

fall into the hole previously dug. (Note: set will not be level at this point.) At

this point, check to make sure that the top rail is still in its proper place

inside the ladder top sleeve. Adjust as necessary by holding onto the

ladder securely and pushing or pulling the “A” frame section causing the

top rail to slide inside the top sleeve. When you are satisfied that the top

rail is in the proper position, securely tighten the set screws in the top

sleeve of the ladder.

9. With the ladder still standing in its hole, situate the “A” frame end to the

desired position in the play area. Determine location of the “A” frame legs

and mark the holes. Move the legs out of the way and dig the holes. (Keep

most of the hole to the inside of the leg). Place the legs into the holes.

10. Level the set.

11. Slide 3rd leg sleeve onto the top rail that is sleeved into the outside of

the 10’ ladder.

12. Measure 5 1⁄2’ - 6’ away from the 10’ Upright Ladder to mark and dig

the hole for the Third Leg (see #1B hole sizes for cementing).

13. Before installing the third leg, locate the third leg. Insert 3⁄8” x 31⁄2” Hex

Bolt and loosely thread 3⁄8” Nut into the bottom hole. Nut will not thread all

the way on and bolt will be loose. (This is to act as an anchor in the

concrete and does not need to be tight.)

14. Install Third Leg by dropping the end into the hole and sliding the top

into the 3rd leg sleeve. Use the 3/8” x 2 3/4” hex bolt and 3/8” nyloc nut.

Then secure 3rd leg with set screw on under side. (see installation

instructions page #4) When properly positioned, secure the set screws in

the top of the 3rd leg sleeve.

15. Mix concrete according to package directions and pour into the holes.

(See Installation Instructions page #1) You will use approximately 6-7 80

pound bags in the ladder hole and 1 1⁄2 bags in each of the leg holes.

16. Allow the concrete to cure completely before you use your swing set

(3-5 days).

17. Assemble and attach the Buoy Ball swing.

18. Attach chains and swing seats and enjoy your Component Playground!

Top Rail Assembly

Step 1: Slide the undrilled end of the longer Top Rail as far as it will go into

the Sleeve of the Triple End

Step 2: Slide the Swing Hangers and tighten onto the Top Rail during the

Top Rail Assembly process. (Refer to spacing diagram and graphic found

on previous page).

Step 3: Insert and tighten four ⅜” x ⅜” set screws into each of the Triple

End Sleeves using Allen Wrench provided.

Step 4: Slide smaller diameter part of shorter top rail into the open end of

the longer top rail which is already attached to triple end.

Step 5: Insert and tighten additional set screws to join top rails together.

1. Loosen and remove the two nyloc jam nuts.

2. Reassemble on to swing top rail. Tighten securely so that the hanger is

firmly attached in place and cannot slide or swivel along top rail.

3. Attach carabiner with chain through the ring.

Note: We recommend you check the pendulum in the swing hangers at

least every 6 months for normal wear.

Read Before Use

Congratulations! You have just purchased one of the finest pieces of playground equipment available. Your family will

enjoy many hours of fun with this fine equipment. Playground equipment can be most enjoyable, but there are some

dangers if not used properly. You should be aware of the following:

Equipment should be installed in a level area, free from obstructions, with enough space to allow for adequate

clearance in all directions when equipment is in maximum use.

Keep objects away from equipment that could interfere with persons using it or that could be hazardous.

Misuse or abuse of this playground equipment is dangerous and can cause serious injury.

This equipment should be inspected before each use and any worn, defective or missing parts should be replaced.

Children should play on equipment only with adult supervision and should be duly warned of the potential hazards in

this type of equipment when used improperly. Children should be instructed as to proper caution to take in its use.

Equipment should NOT be used when it is wet or icy.

Equipment should only be used in a well-lit area.

Do NOT use equipment when tired, under stress or emotionally upset.

Do NOT overcrowd.

Do NOT use equipment when under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Do NOT attempt somersaults or gymnastic stunts on or using this equipment.

Know your own limitations and exercise caution at all times.

Do not jump off of equipment when dismounting. It is a dangerous practice to jump on or off equipment.

Do not attempt to use equipment for something other than the use for which it was designed and intended, or in a

manner other than that for which it was designed and intended.
