Store ultrasound probe according to the
manufacturer’s IFU
“Store the device in a manner that will protect
from damage or contamination… Hanging
vertically in a cabinet and storing in a clean
environment.” – The Joint Commission
ASTRA Maintenance
Replacing HLD Bottle
Unit will prompt “Change Disinfectant” every
14 days or 21 days (depending on HLD type)
or if the MRC test fails. Follow unit prompts to
change bottle. Ensure connector fittings are
snapped into place.

Replacing Filters
Unit will prompt “Change Air Filter” and
“Change Water Filter” every 6 months. Follow
unit prompts to change filters.
Test Strip Quality Control
Quality Control must be performed when a
new bottle of test strips is opened. Test strips
can be used for the number of days after
opening specified by the manufacturer or the
expiration date, whichever occurs first. Discard
any test strip bottle left open longer than
allowed by manufacturer’s instructions.
Downloading Log File
To download a cycle report, insert a USB into
the ASTRA, press the menu button to get to
the “download cycle log” screen, and press
ENTER to begin the download process.
Once download process is complete, you can
review the report by removing the USB and
plugging it into a computer.
NOTE: ASTRA automatically tracks use life of
the following consumables:
• Air Filter
• Water Filter
• HLD Bottle
Cycle report should be downloaded as your
hospital policy dictates.
NOTE: A WILD (Water Inlet Line Disinfection)
cycle is required after a water filter change
and after 14 days of inactivity and requires
replacement of HLD bottle.
NOTE: The ASTRA Ultra model will mandate
the quality control of new test strip bottles,
track the open use life, and log qualified test
strip bottles. For more information, refer to
the ASTRA IFU or the “Load Qualified Test
Strip Bottle” section on the laminated ASTRA
Troubleshooting Handout.
