3.0 OPERATION
3.1 Operating Cycle
Makesure theon/off switch is OFF (O), and theunit is positioned safely(see 2.2), before
connectingto theelectricalsupply.
Switch theon/off switch to ON (–). Theswitch will glowgreen and theunit will operate
immediately.
Allowtheunit to run for5-10 minutes before using.
This paragraph applies onlyto thecurrent(white)model.
Iftheunit is used forlongperiods it will occasionallyenter acoolingcyclein which theairflow
increases foraround 15 minutes, after which it will resumenormaloperation. Duringthis period
thetemperature ofthehotairwill bereduced.
Switch theunit off after use.
3.2 GeneralOperating Notes
Excessivecontinuous usecan shorten thelife oftheunit.
Theambienttemperature can affectthefrequencywith which thecoolingcycleoperates.
3.3 OperatorSafety
Theoperatorshould read this manualand observeall therecommendations in it.
Do notopen theunit, insertanythinginto it, orallowfluids to enter it. Do notoperatetheunit with
wethands.
Avoid burns caused bytouchingthenozzleorholdingahand in thehotairstream. Becarefuleven
when wearinggloves, as burns can becaused bydelayed heattransfer through aglove.
Do notusetheunit in thepresence ofpotentiallyexplosivevapour:useofthesafe-airnear volatile
materials can bedangerous.
TheSafe-Airis internallyfused, and thecurrent(white) models also feature athermaltrip and
thermalfuseto protecttheoperatorfromelectricalshock and theunit fromexcessiveheatbuild
up. Thesupplylead is fused attheplug.
4.0 MAINTENANCE
4.1 GeneralMaintenance
Do notopen theunit orattemptrepair. See section 4.3 before replacingtheplugfuse.
Ifrepairis required pleasecontactThermalEngineeringServices:contactdetails are attheend of
this manual. Pleasequotetheserialnumber fromthebaseoftheunit.
4.2 Cleaning
Switch off and disconnecttheunit before cleaning.
Clean bywipingwith adamp cloth. Do notuseorganicsolvents.
Do notallowwater to enter theunit. Allowit to drybefore reconnectingit.
4.3 Fuses
Thelineplugcontains a3 Amp 25x5mm BSstandard fuse;this protects thesupplylead. Do not
replace this fusewith oneofahigher rating.
TheSafe-Aircontains a2 Amp fuseon theliveside;this protects internalwiring.
Failure ofafuseindicates afault. PleasecontactThermalEngineeringServices iftheunit does not
work when switched on.
