Additional safety instructions for pipe and wire detectors
Do not use the tool to detect AC voltage in uninsulated, exposed or free wires.
Do not use the tool as a substitute for a voltmeter.
Be aware that the tool may not always properly detect all pipes and wires. The following
conditions can cause inaccurate results:
- Low battery
- Thick walls with thin pipes or wires

- Very humid conditions
- Shielded cables
Before use, always test the tool by detecting a known pipe or wire.
If in doubt contact a qualified service agent.
Warning! This tool will not detect wires in circuits isolated from the mains supply, cables
operating at direct current (DC) or wires used for telecommunication or computer systems.
Hidden wires (e.g. wall lights) may not be detected when switches are in the off position.
Warning! This tool will not detect pipes of any other material than metal.
Labels on tool
The following pictograms are shown on the tool:
Warning! To reduce the risk of injury, the user must read the instruction manual.
Features
1. On/off switch
2. Mode selector switch
3. LCD screen (stud/metal finder)
4. LED indicator (AC wire)
Assembly
Fitting the battery (fig. A)
Slide the battery cover (4) off the tool.
Insert the battery making sure to match (+) and (-) terminals inside the battery
compartment with the battery.
Refit the cover and let it click into place.
Use
Note:
Keep fingers away from the area of detection as this may interfere with the results.
The wall must be flat to get the most accurate results.
Selecting the operating mode
Set the mode selector switch (2) to the position for the detection of wooden studs.

8
ENGLISH
Set the mode selector switch (2) to the position for the detection of metal rebars,
pipes, etc.
Using the stud finder function (fig. B - D)
You can use this function to find wooden studs through drywall boards up to 19 mm thick.
Set the mode selector switch (2) to the stud finder position.
Hold the tool on the wall.
Keep the on/off switch (1) depressed.
The LCD screen (3) will light up and the buzzer will sound once while the tool is calibrating.
The wood stud detection indicator symbol (8) will appear on the screen. After calibration is
completed:
Slowly slide the tool in a horizontal direction over the surface without lifting off or
changing the applied pressure (fig. C). Make sure not to tilt or lift the tool.
When 3 scanner bars (11) on the LCD screen (3) start to climb this indicates that you are
approaching the stud (10). Slow down and slide the tool further until the buzzer sounds and
the centre bull eye (10) flashes. This position indicates the centre of the stud (10) (fig. D3).
Note:
Sometimes it is necessary to move the detector over the same area several times to
localise the wooden stud more precisely. The bulls eye (9) will flash when when a stud
is within close proximity.
When a metal object is detected while in stud mode, the metal indicator symbol (7) will
flash and 2 bars will appear on the LCD screen (fig. D2). When the bars reach the top,
a metal object is within close proximity. When no bars are displayed keep the on/off
switch depressed and reverse the movement to get accurate results.
Using the metal finder function (fig. B - D)
You can use this function (7) to find metal pipes through drywall boards up to 25 mm thick.
Set the mode selector switch (2) to the metal finder position.
Hold the tool in the air away from the wall and any metal objects.
Press the on/off switch (1).
The LCD screen (3) will light up and the buzzer will sound once while the tool is calibrating.
After calibration is completed:
Keep the on/off switch depressed.
The metal detection indicator symbol (7) is indicated on the display.
Place the tool flat against the wall as shown.
Slowly slide the tool in a horizontal direction over the surface without lifting off or
changing the applied pressure (fig. C). Make sure not to tilt or lift the tool.

9
ENGLISH
When 2 scanner bars (12) on the LCD screen (3) start to climb this indicates you are
apporaching a metal object.
Continue scanning the surface.
Upon close proximity to a metal object, the bars will reach the top and then fall. When no
bars are displayed, keep the on/off switch depressed and reverse the movement to get
accurate results. 2 bars reaching the top indicate the location of a metal object (fig. D2).
After detecting the work area repeat the testing procedure to confirm the operation of the
unit.
Using the wire detector function (fig. D)
You can use this function to find live wires to 100 mm in depth. The function works
continuously in all modes.
Warning! Test the unit on a known AC current before use.
Hold the unit in the air away from the area being scanned and any other AC current
source.
Press the on/off switch (1).
The red LED indicator (4) will light up and the buzzer will sound once while the tool is
calibrating. After calibration is completed:
Keep the on/off switch depressed.
Move the tool slowly and smoothly across the surface, approaching from different
directions (fig. C).
When an AC source is located, the red LED indicator (4) will flash (fig. D1).
After detecting the AC source repeat the testing procedure to confirm the operation of
the unit and to localise the live wire more precisely.
Note: Static charge may interfere with detection on both sides of the wire, resulting in limited
accuracy.
Battery indicator (fig. B)
The LCD screen displays a battery symbol (6) that indicates the present condition of the battery.
Replace the battery on time.
