Warning:
The manufacturer and the distribution chain disclaim any liability
deriving from an improper use of the device in a way that may cause
accidents or damages to things or persons.
Using this navigator implies that the user accepts and follows all
these warnings and all the instructions contained on this manual. The
driver is held responsible for using the navigator in the correct way
(passenger or non passenger mode).
The User should ignore the indications suggested by the navigator in
situations that appear to be in contrast with the Highway Code. The
Manufacturer and the distribution chain disclaim any liability deriving
from an improper use of the device in a way that may violate the
Highway Code.
The Tele Atlas cartographic data loaded in the navigator may present
some discrepancies from the reality. This is due to the continuous
changes in the street network. Some areas have a better coverage
than others.
User Manual Important:
Do not place the navigator in positions that may obstruct the
driver’s view.
Do not place the navigator in positions that may interfere with the
correct functioning of the security/safety equipment of the vehicle
(e.g. airbags).
Make sure that the navigator is correctly attached to the bracket
before driving.
Do not rely exclusively on vocal instructions. Depending on a
variety of factors, (speed, weather, GPS reception etc) these
instructions may not be correct or timely. Always take the
information provided as indicative, and always respect the
Highway Code. Satellite navigators should be considered merely
as aids. The driver is held responsible for safe driving and the
choice of the best route to take.
Do not consult the navigator whilst driving if this represents a
danger for you and other people.
Do not program the navigator while driving .
The precision of the GPS signal, in the best possible conditions is
guaranteed with a deviation of 15 meters.
N.B.: The information contained in this manual is updated to April
2007. Any subsequent changes in the system, in the functions, in the
tools bar or maps introduced after this date will not be present in this
manual.

conformity to the WEEE directive. Do not dispose
of this WEEE product as domestic waste; some
substances contained in electronic equipment can
damage the environment and harm human health if
misused or if they are not disposed of in the correct
way. Return the device to the distributor when
purchasing a new one. The unlawful disposal of

1.2 Maintenance
Do not leave the navigator in direct sunlight for extended periods.
This could compromise the correct running of your navigator. If you
suspect that the navigator has been over heated because of sunlight
exposure, let the temperature of the car cool down, and wait for the
device temperature to go down to normal values before switching
it on.
Avoid knocking against the display.
Do not use oil based products to clean the LCD surface.
Keep away from water.

1. Introduction
1.1 Battery disposal
This product is equipped with a built-in Li-Ion battery. Do not use the
product in damp or corrosive environments. In order to lengthen the
life of the battery, do not recharge it at temperatures higher than 60°C.

THE LI-ION BATTERY PROVIDED WITH THE PRODUCT
MUST BE RECYCLED OR DISPOSED IN THE CORRECT

1.4 Hardware description
Looking at the navigator you can see the following components:
1. Power key
2. Volume control
3. Audio output for earphones
4. Power supply plug DC 5v

6. 4.3” LCD display

8. Slot for Secure Digital memory cards
9. Serial port for external GPS antenna

2. Starting
To power on the navigator, position the ON/OFF selector on ON and
then push the Power Key.
In the first screen choose among navigator, video player, mp3
player and picture viewer. The first page of the satellite navigation
software displays some important warnings.
If the warnings are not in the language required, it is possible to set
immediately the text language by touching the Language setting
button in the lower left corner. Select the desired language for the
text, and then touch the upper right arrow button to select the voice
language (for vocal instructions)
Touch the OK button to close the language setting window and go
back to the warning page
Touch the Accept button to accept the warning and display the Map
If a route was set before switching off the navigator, the navigation
will continue toward the previously selected destination.
2.1 The Map
If the GPS signal is active, the position of the vehicle on the map is
shown with an Icon (e.g. a blue car).
On the right part of the map the zoom in and zoom out button are
displayed.
In the lower right corner of the screen the GPS icon shows the status
and quality of the GPS signal. Next to the GPS icon, The Menu button
allows opening the main menu.
In the lower part of the screen the information bar is displayed.
The information bar displays the name of the street you are travelling

along, and above that, the name of the street you will have to turn into.
The left corner of the information bar shows the distance to the next
manoeuvre and the icon of the manoeuvre you will have to perform.
When in navigation, on the left part of the screen there are three info
boxes showing:
Time to destination
Speed
Distance to destination
2.2 The Main Menu
The MENU button in the lower right corner of the screen opens the
Main Menu.
By touching the Setting button in the lower right corner, you can
access to the system setting, while touching the Map button on the
lower left corner you can go back to the map view.
From the main menu you can access to the Where to go menu, Route
functions, Drive me home shortcut, Display settings menu, Volume
control.
3. Setting a route
3.1 Choosing the first destination
In order to insert your first destination touch the MENU button, then
touch the WHERE TO GO button to open the Where to Go page. You
can choose here a destination among:
Address
Drive me Home
POI (Points of Interest)
Contact

To insert manually a new destination touch the Address button
In the address page touch the white cells to insert
Country
City
Address
House number
When touching a field the virtual keyboard opens up.
Once you have inserted an address it is possible to choose among:
Show on Map to view the destination on the map.
GO to start the navigation.
In the same page you can also choose different search criteria:
The recently found button allows you viewing the last found
addresses.
The Zip code button allows you inserting the post code instead of
the city.
3.2 Points of interest (POI)
The database of the points of interests includes hotels, restaurants,
hospitals, police stations etc. This information is preloaded in the
memory card, together with the cartographic data. The POI and are
grouped in categories.
To search for a destination among the points of interests, touch the
Menu button, and then touch the Where to Go button. In the Where
to Go page touch the POI button, and then in The POI page choose
among:
Near to my position
Near to destination

Near to city
Choose Near to my position to look for POI that are in the surroundings
of your GPS position. Choose the POI category and subcategory e.g.
category: Transports, Subcategory: Airport, the navigator will search
for the POI and will display a list of results. Choose an element of the
list to view full info (name, description, address, telephone number). In
the full info page choose Show on Map to view the point on the map or
GO to start the navigation.
3.3 Personal contacts
To look for a personal contact saved in the address book touch the
Menu button, then touch the Where to Go button; choose Contact from
the Where to Go page. A list of the contacts’ folders will be displayed.
Touch a folder to open it. Choose a contact to vie full details (name,
address, description, and icon). In the full info page choose Show

on Map to view the contact’s position on the map or GO to start the
navigation.
4. Save a contact in the address book
4.1 Save a contact
You can Save up to 1000 personal contacts in your AvMap Motivo and
organize them in folders.
To save a contact manually, touch and hold for two seconds on the
point in the map that you wish to save: a pop up window will appear.
From the pop up window you can:
Obtain full info on the point
Set the point as departure
Set the point as destination
Save the point as contact
Block the road in that point
Set the point as waypoint
Touch the first button on the left side of the second line to save the
position as a contact in the address book. In the edit contact window
insert the name of the contact, and choose the folder of destination.
You can also choose an icon for each contact.
4.2 Save a contact as Home
The contact set as Home can be rapidly set as destination thanks to
the Drive me Home shortcut button in the main menu.
To save a contact as Home first save the contact as described in par
4.1 then in the edit contact window touch the Home button to set the
