1 Overview
1.1 Features
The WMC01 Wall Mount Controller provides control of audio source selection and broadcast level within a VIPEDIA-12
system.
The WMC01 is typically installed in restaurants, meeting rooms and hotel lobbies to allow users to select from a list of
different music channels and to adjust the volume.
Connections to the VIPEDIA-12 can be made over either Ethernet or serial RS485/analogue audio. Power is sourced from
a PoE supply in Ethernet mode or a 24 V DC supply in serial mode.
A standard 3.5 mm socket allows an audio device such as phone or music player to be connected locally.
The WMC01 includes a flush back box for simple installation and is available in either black, white or gold finishes.
1.2 Important Notes
The WMC requires MPS firmware V3.0.3.0-P and VIPEDIA firmware V3.0.3.0 or above.
The WMC selects the audio source for a predefined fixed list of outputs chosen by the system administrator. It is not
possible for the end-user to route audio sources selectively to outputs, but only for them to choose which audio source is
routed to the predefined list.
In systems with multiple WMC01 units, each device must control a unique set of audio outputs. It is not possible to control
the audio routed to any single or group of outputs from more than one device.

3 Set Up
3.1 Mode
The WMC01 can operate in one of two modes - analogue or IP. Both modes provide the same features.
In analogue mode: a standard VIPEDIA-12 audio input provides the necessary power, communications and audio link. In
this mode, a direct CAT5 cable is required between the WMC01 and VIPEDIA-12.
In IP mode, the communications and audio link between the VIPEDIA-12 and WMC01 is over IP, whilst power is supplied
by external/3rd party PoE. The unit can either be connected directly to one of VIPEDIA-12’s Ethernet ports, or through an
existing network.
3.2 Power
Set the power jumpers on the rear side of the WMC01 for to the selected mode (analogue or IP) as shown in Figure 1
below.

1) Disconnect power before changing link settings.
2) PoE and RTR links must NOT be fitted simultaneously

3.3 Connections
Depending on the mode chosen, connect the WMC01 either
1. Directly to a spare VIPEDIA-12 audio input, or
2. Through a network connection with PoE
See Figure 2 and Figure 3 below for more information.
Figure 2 - Analogue Mode Connections
In IP Mode, two options for powering the WMC01 are available. Both require a PoE network connection –option 1 requires
a PoE capable network switch, option 2 requires an inline PoE power injector e.g. e.g. RS Stock No.873-0737
Figure 3 - IP Mode Connections
In analogue mode, the
WMC01 is connected to
the VIPEDIA-12 using a
CAT5 cable.
During initial configuration,
Router 1 on the WMC01 is
connected to a VIPEDIA-
12 microphone input.
Once configuration is
complete, the cable is
moved to Router 2. See
section 3 “Set Up” for
more information.
1) Connect the WMC01 to
a PoE capable switch and
then connect that switch to
the same network as the
VIPEDIA-12.
2) Use an inline power
injector

3.4 Configuration (Analogue Mode)
This section describes the configuration of the WMC01 device to operate in analogue mode. For IP mode follow steps 1 to
4, then see section 3.5 Configuration (IP Mode)
1. Connect the cable between VIPEDIA-12 or INTEGRA and WMC01 as shown in Figure 2 or Figure 3 above.
2. Add VIPEDIA-12 and/or INTEGRA to the PAVA System Configuration.
System -> Rack Node -> VIPEDIA-XX, or System -> Integra Node -> INTEGRA-XX
3. Add ‘Misc’ inputs to the VIPEDIA-12 audio inputs for each music/audio source in the system.
Audio Input X -> Add -> Misc. Input

4. Name DVA message files in ‘System Globals’ which will be controlled by the WMC01. Note: DVA message will always
be configured to ‘play to end’ when triggered from a WMC01.
Globals -> DVA Messages
For IP mode, please now go to section 4b.
5. Add WMC01-485 to an unused audio input. Note: this audio input will be connected to the local 3.5mm jack socket on
the front panel of the WMC01 and will be available in the list of selectable inputs if required.
Audio Input X -> Add -> WMC01-485
6. Select the WMC01 device in the tree. For each source which the WMC will select, change the “Source” dropdown to
the required input and enter a name. The name entered will be shown in the WMC01 LCD user interface.
