Purpose
To install the Dual Plasma Burner mounting kit on a gas chromatograph (GC)
unit.
Scope
This procedure describes how to install the Dual Plasma Burner mounting kit.
Safety
Make sure all devices are powered off while performing the installation.
Materials
•A Dual Plasma Burner mounting kit
•The Dual Plasma Burner
•A Philips screwdriver
•3 mm Allen wrench
•Sheet metal cutting tool(s)
Procedure
1. Remove the mounting kit from the packaging.
2. Make sure the gas chromatograph (GC) is powered off and gas supplies
are off.
3. On the GC, remove the cover from the detector area to expose the top of
the GC, through which a detector is normally mounted. Find the
appropriate mounting location based on Figure 1.
4. Align the Burner mounting plate with the mounting screw holes on the
GC. Clear the hole into the GC oven of interfering insulation (approx
1.8 inch diameter).

5. Cut the GC liner per the template in Figure 2, and then secure the
mounting plate onto the oven with the screws provided.
6. Remove the right side panel of the GC to expose the PCB mounted
connector receptacles. Attach the Burner mount’s power connector to the
GC’s temperature control circuit. Consult your GC’s operation or service
manual to confirm proper placement.
7. Position the Dual Plasma Burner (column end down) into the tapered
fitting of the heated base, with the lower hydrogen line and pin aligned
with the slot in the heated base. The Burner should be secure when
properly positioned.
8. Follow the instructions in the “Installation” chapter of the Operation and
Maintenance Manual for connecting the Burner to the Dual Plasma
Controller.
